In fact, if this is the case and it comes out that any of ND's coaches or administrators were involved in the lie/cover up, it will set back ND's image decades, as far as sexual diversity and acceptance. The stigma, right or wrong, will be that ND only truly accepts strictly heterosexual individuals.
Much the same way that Penn State chose to bury their heads in the sand when they had a chance to take a stand against child molestation and now the entire university has the Ped State stigma attached to it.
Especially since Notre Dame has a "Core Council for Gay and Lesbian Students."

Now, there is one thing that we all have to keep in mind. The school is still governed by the Catholic Church, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure the folks in Italy would appreciate if one of the big money draws in the church had made that money with the help of a player who they say is against what they allegedly believe.
