NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

Who needs creativity when the off the field actions, or should I say police reports/court dockets, of the Bungholes over the past 8-9 months speaks for itself?

If you are going for humor, you do. I can appreciate a good Bengals joke as much as anybody, but this is just lame. Who didn't see it coming?

If you are going for serious insight (which I highly doubt), then that is the worst post on any board ever.

DIELMAN, STEINBACH HAVE DEALS IN HAND?

Our sources in Indy tell us that two of the top offensive linemen in free agency might already have deals in place with new teams.

If their agents are to be believed.

Per the source, the agents for Bengals lineman Eric Steinbach and Chargers lineman Kris Dielman are telling people that they plan to sign contracts worth $7 million per year on March 2, or shortly thereafter.

The three teams who were thought to be most interested in either of these two guys are the Texans, Browns, and Cowboys.

Though it wouldn't be much of a surprise to learn that contracts have been verbally negotiated before the start of free agency (since it happens every single year), the other possibility is that the agents are puffing as to either or both of these players, in the hopes that someone else will offer as much or more.

Either way, make no mistake about it -- free agency officially begins in six days; unofficially, it's already started.

per the indy star. i got it from another board, but I'll try and find the link to the article.

If the Browns could sign those two (or even ONE of the two) and one of either Clements (my preference) or A. Thomas from the Ravens...that would be a TREMENDOUS improvement. I don't see the need for Thomas like I do Clements, but we could use any pro bowler who might want to jump on board for the right price. All 4 are going to go for big dollars.

When you're ready to dismount, be careful.

Man.....if we signed both I would probably faint. I just want one of the two. Aren't they both guards?

Yeap, both Guards.
I think we *need* 1 of 'em. Not sure we need both, especially with the capspace -- I'd like to get Nate too. But I would do a jig if we got both or 1 and Nate.

I thought I heard that Thomas was franchised by the Ravens this week?? I definitely believe that Clements is the guy to go after for the Secondary. He's a stud and gives the fans another Buckeye on board.

Ravens opted not to franchise Thomas, gambling that he'll come back in the end. I think it's a smart move for them.

No, the Ravens actually decided NOT to franchis Thomas.

But someone is going to have to pay him around 7.2 mil for him to play for them this season. The Browns are going to have to be selective with which high profile FA's they go after. They all seem to want between 6-8 a year.

I could go with one of the guards (much more likely than getting both) and grabbing a tackle somewhere (LORD PLEASE) and snagging Nate & Thomas. That would be a sick free agency.

I think, at most, we can take 3 high profile FAs. The pricetag is right -- but you also have to count our #3 pick, which will also be around the 7mil zone. I'm not sure how signing bonuses figure in though.
I'd prefer to see us throw out 7-8 to all of those guys and take the ones that bite.

I like your thinking Skidoo but don't be surprised if we go after a couple of lower profile FA's (in say the 2 mill zone) as well.

I think we get 2-3 of the big namers, the $7 mill guys (don't think we need LB like we do CB) and then of course sign our draft kids. Would come out to right around 30 mill.

Sounds like a plan to me.
Somebody send Savage this thread... :wink2:

All this talk of FA just makes me miss Bentley more, though. We could really use him.
