NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

Why would the Texans want to trade for Plummer? Everyone knows the Donkeys are desperate to get rid of him. Plummer, Bell and a first for the #8. I'm not sure how that would be good for the Texans. Of course, they were the team that chose to pass on Reggie Bush.

I think they're done with the David Carr experiment... I think that it would actually be a decent deal for Houston... They need more than what they would get at #8, and would essentially get 3 starters for that pick if they get Denver's first... Williams has health concerns at RB, so Bell would likely start right away...

i agree....it would be a terrible trade for them. plummer will probably get cut, and bell is nothing special. (he was an UDFA)

I agree they're done with Carr. But, Denver is done with Plummer. So much so that if they don't trade him, they'll cut him. Why trade for a guy that you can sigh anyway? Why trade for a back like Bell, when you can possibly get Peterson?

I'm not sure why the hell the Texans think Plummer would be any better than Carr. I'd gladly take Carr for a mid third rounder.

Plummer's a turd.

Honestly, I can't see Peterson dropping to 8. And I'm not sure Shanahan would pony up for Peterson either. But this is the kind of trade series I could see Shanahan doing... for whatever reason, the Broncos are pretty good at finding good trades (I'm still scratching my head over all the trades that got them Walker and Cutler last year) and unorthodox market moves that work out (ie: the Brownies' DL.)
Plummer is done in Denver. I wouldn't be surprised if he was booed off the field even if he came in as Cutler's backup. The radios and rhetoric around Plummer was horrible last year -- even after Cutler's horrible first performance, nobody wanted to see Plummer.
That said, I'm not sure anyone can bank on the Broncos cutting him. I believe he's guaranteed 5mil next year and theres like 10mil of capspace... if they want to sign any big FAs on the market, they'll need to can him -- otherwise, they could just bide their time to get something out of him and keep a solid backup to push Cutler.

Too much value at 8 in this draft to give it up. Plummer's got the experience in the system but pulling someone out of the scrap heap gives you the same thing. Texans need to yet again go young at QB and build for the future. The upside of 3-4 years with the snake at QB is maybe 7 wins and no playoff appearances. If this guy was turnover prone with a good line, imagine him running for his life in Houston.

I don't see a QB in this draft that could immediately be put in behind a poor line and produce. They could have had it last year with Vince, but they somehow managed to convince themselves out of the hometown pro bowler and Reggie Bush.
Plummer wouldn't be a bad pickup for them, with or without Carr, but I agree that Plummer for a 1st isn't even worth considering -- Bell doesn't exactly sweeten the pot either (at least not for me).
