NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Don't care about the game, but it's so dumb that it's not on tv. I'm not fucking streaming a playoff game.

Very dumb indeed. It puts some stress on businesses with a lot of TVs too. We have a bunch of cable boxes where I work, so if one goes down, we have plenty of backup. We aren't allowed to broadcast Amazon/Twitch without going through a separate company, and we are at their mercy. No backup option, just one feed. We missed the first half of the Peacock OSU game earlier this year because of that bullshit.

At what point do the Stillers move on from Tomlin? It is now 8 calendar years since they've won a playoff game. Sometimes, without getting REALLY bad, things get stale. I'd argue the Stillers are the most stale organization in pro-sports. They're never bad enough to really necessitate a full on rebuild, but never good enough to win anything significant. It's like they're on an endless hampster wheel of "decent."

Crazy that most of the teams that have spent a shitload of money on a top tier safety haven’t had much, if any success in the postseason. Chargers spent a ton for Derwin, Steelers a ton on Minkah, Falcons a ton on Bates. I just think money is much better spent on an elite level pass rusher vs. an elite Safety. I think you can find serviceable enough young Safeties via the draft.

Yeah it's a fine line. They are the model of consistency but have no upside. They used to always be good, sometimes great.

I think it's always the owners call ultimately. The Rooney clan wants a consistent, stable, predictable program. They won't be pressured into moving on from Tomlin. He'll retire soon probably but they aren't going to fire him.

It's funny I was watching the last game they played the Bengals and thinking they are polar opposites. One team has a very good supporting cast and no QB. One has an all world QB and little to no supporting cast. Steelers are the model of consistency, Bengals are all over the fucking place.

Hard to argue against the Rooney model as compared to the Brown family model (setting aside rooting interests)

Maybe give Tomlin someone other than over the hill Russ, Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, Devlin Hodges and Big Ben’s corpse the last decade.

What he can still put together and get out of the rest of the team is impressive. They’ve been lost since Ben lost his fastball.

Or don’t. They can stay lost and lose a good coach. I don’t care.
