NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

If Jimmy G hits a couple easy throws, SF likely wins that SB too.

See above that NF posted. San Fran handled KC for 3.5 quarters and just couldn't get out of their own way to make a few easy throws when they were needed. That team is 1 game away from dragging the QB corpse that is Jimmy G to a 2nd Superbowl in 3 years.

No doubt that SF is a talented team and could beat KC. I have a hard time feeling confident in them pulling it off because of the Jimmy G factor.

I'm not sure why you just don't give each team a chance to score a TD then go to sudden death afterwards. Seems like an obvious no brainer but what do I know.

Plus, they have cut the OT to ten, from fifteen, minutes. How about we just let ‘em play football, with no gimmicks, for those fifteen minutes and whoever is ahead at the end of the period wins?

For the next week, the NFL media is going to be flooded with "should the NFL change the rules?" I think they'll dub it the Josh Allen or Bills rule and have it fixed next year. Because we shouldn't feel any disappointment whatsoever after that game, and here we are talking about OT rules after arguably the greatest game we've all ever seen. And not the historic performances Mahomes and Allen had after the two minute warning. 25 points scored after the 2 minute warning. lol

Yep pretty much sums up why I can't stand sports media and the news media in general.

I don’t mean to detract from anyone’s enjoyment of this game, but isn’t it funny that a game with inept defensive coaching and play on both sides is thought of as the greatest game we’ve ever seen, while a tight, hardnosed, low-scoring affair is boring snd terrible?

I don’t think any of the games this weekend were boring or terrible. In fact, this might have been the most entertaining/competitive Divisional Playoff round in a really long time.

And that kind of thinking is why people say ignorant shit like the 2002 Buckeyes are among the worst champions of the modern CFB era. Suffocating defense, money special teams, and a pounding run game with a game manager at QB will always be under appreciated. And that was after the team lost Richard McNutt for the season and was forced to start Gamble at corner because EJ Underwood was EJ Under-whelming.

Yep. Either style of game can be enjoyable to a true football fan. I thoroughly enjoyed the SF-GB game yesterday because that was an old school, throwback, shit weather, defensive struggle. And it helped that my team prevailed.

Of the 4 remaining teams, the Niners, with their mediocre QB, would appear the least likely to go any further…and that might be fair…but you can’t just discount them because their D can contain these crazy offenses and their smash mouth running attack can shorten the game. They just Jimmy G to not do bad Jimmy G things…which, unfortunately, he tends to do.

During that game, I think duh, U, came to comprehend the phrase, “Hit them hard and see how they fall…..apart.”

I thought even the low scoring games were great. Had enough crazy plays to make them entertaining, especially 49ers v Packers. Rams v Buccs was even entertaining since watch Brady get murdered was is always a riot. The near epic choke job just added to the entertainment.

If I followed the NFL more I'd probably call it the best playoff weekend ever.

Especially considering that the 2001 Canes are widely considered as the best, and if they won back-to-back, that 2002 Miami team would've likely been considered a 1a/1b type situation.
