Apparently there will be an opportunity to exchange/trade/give a game 1 time without a fee.

This is looking pretty crappy. XBOX One seems as though it's totally going to be a "big brother" type of system. It is going to know everything about you: what you play, who your friends are, what you watch, what type of music you like, etc. I might have to avoid this system on principal alone. My kids already mostly play the PS3, so they should be just fine with a PS4.

I'm still willing to bet PS4 will be very similar

they have backed off on a lot of their comments about internet and rental games

Depends on your abilities with hardware. I could price out a system very comparable to the $599+tax you'll shell out for a console - then with said system in my hands, tweak and clock to net an additional 15% performance increase without too much work.

That computer system would probably be slightly better than the newest console. Maybe even significantly better, depending on the price point drops with new hardware refreshes.

That may be the case but it wont matter if the game developers don't produce games that make use of a superior PC. They will tend to the console gamers because that is the largest install base for gaming. You will probably have to wait until the near end of the next generation to notice superior graphics on PCs again.

So when xbl is having issues, like not being able to login to this brand new system with a sudden avalanche of traffic, we won't be allowed to game either. Adorable.

I also appreciate that they directly acknowledge that they don't give a crap about the military gamers out there. They can play their last gen consoles and deal with it I guess.

If people really believe the NSA is gonna spy on every little move you make through the kinect, well, I got some beach front property in Iowa to sell you

According to Xbox's official site, "at Microsoft, we prioritize your privacy. We understand that your personal data and privacy are important. Xbox One and Kinect will provide tools to put you in control of your data."

Microsoft stresses that "you are in control of what Kinect can see and hear. By design, you will determine how responsive and personalized your Xbox One is to you and your family during setup. The system will navigate you through key privacy options, like automatic or manual sign in, privacy settings, and clear notifications about how data is used. When Xbox One is on and you’re simply having a conversation in your living room, your conversation is not being recorded or uploaded."

Players will also control whether Kinect is on, off or paused. "If you don’t want the Kinect sensor on while playing games or enjoying your entertainment, you can pause Kinect. To turn off your Xbox One, just say 'Xbox Off.' When the system is off, it’s only listening for the single voice command -- 'Xbox On,' and you can even turn that feature off too. Some apps and games may require Kinect functionality to operate, so you’ll need to turn it back on for these experiences."

Your personal data will never be available to anyone outside of your console, Microsoft stressed. "You can play games or enjoy applications that use data, such as videos, photos, facial expressions, heart rate and more, but this data will not leave your Xbox One without your explicit permission."

it's funny a lot of people hate on some of these polices, but still love PC gaming, a lot of this is exactly like Steam

So Steam requires you to log in once every 24 hours?

Is Steam owned in any way by Microsoft?

Is Steam-approval the only way to get games on the PC?
