Except it's not like Steam for a multitude of reasons....just because it shares a few similar qualities doesn't mean it's "exactly like" Steam, because it isn't....

If people really believe the NSA is gonna spy on every little move you make through the kinect, well, I got some beach front property in Iowa to sell you
Being uninterested in my behavior is not the same as not having access to it.

The past week we have been given evidence of rampant data mining from tech giants across the board. Right afterwards, those same companies come out with carefully worded denials of the behavior detailed in the leaks. Clever wording hides their actual behavior.

No it's not new. But it's a crock for th to have any kind of "spying" or whatever you want to call it for a gaming console. This having to be connected to play games is rubbish. And a constant connection....not cool

...and gamers' options for not being subject to such practices are fast dwindling.

I agree..

i'm not saying i'm in favor of these polices or anything, but I just laugh at all the hate directed at MS when Sony is going to have similar polices..

and whether we like it or not this is the future of console gaming

There's no hope of having options if gamers and consumers don't express their dissatisfaction to somebody.

And if there are no other options, then I won't be part of the future of console gaming.

It's become quite clear in the sports & FPS genres that the serious gamers are a toss-in demographic. They cater to the basic gamer :(

i have been with the xbox since the beginning, but i will not buy this if the playstation lets me play offline. haven't been on playstation since the original. if ps won't, i won't get any of the consoles this time until the price comes way down.

hell i still miss bots in shooter games. like i wanna play with some kid that plays all day and get picked off as soon as i come into the game.

greatly prefer a highly customizable shooter that lets me ramp the difficulty and number of bots to make it a challenge.

i play a shooter on the original xbox (timesplitters 3) still more to this day than any shooter on the 360. just haven't found one i enjoy on the 360 as much. bots and speed being my main complaint.

I was a hardcore gamer once upon a time, but nowadays I'm more casual.

I'm upset by the idea nonetheless. I have too many other interests and hobbies to participate in one where the industry is constantly looking for ways to provide less value for money and less freedom in the ways I can used the products I purchase. If gaming heads in the direction that seems imminent, then I just shift more time, money and attention to other things I enjoy like music, beer, golf and live sporting events.

That may be the case but it wont matter if the game developers don't produce games that make use of a superior PC. They will tend to the console gamers because that is the largest install base for gaming. You will probably have to wait until the near end of the next generation to notice superior graphics on PCs again.

.... What??

Edit: the BF4 reveal videos must have missed you.
