Game Thread Nebraska at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 26, 12pm ET, FOX

"body language"
"fired up"

buzz words that have nothing to do with talented players executing a game plan. as if they're intentionally not being allowed to be aggressive during games. it's equivalent to ESPN ranking teams based on the "eye test". just rank the teams you like wherever you like them, and then use "body language" as reasoning why.
I disagree. No one is saying we rank teams by this, that's non sequitur, and a straw man argument.

What I am saying is at times you can tell if a team is down in morale by their body language, and then the play shows this to be true. It's not really that hard to figure out.

I know exactly what you're saying....I'm not straw manning you. I'm saying it's the same thing as ESPN's made up reasons why 8 SEC teams are in the top 5.

It's not hard to figure out, it's just silly. Did Jeremiah Smith have good body language when he torched everyone for that TD? Was Zen's body language bad when he stood up and looked lost on.....*checks notes*....every play? No, the players executed on good plays, and didn't on bad ones. "Body language" is like 5000th on the list of what's wrong with this team. And I don't mean there's a lot of things wrong with this team.

The overarching goal of this season is to beat *ichigan.

Yeah, I know, "loaded" roaster, Natty run, etc etc.

No... Beat those fucks up North, get the world back on its correct axis and let's go from there.

That said, I'm starting to have both a vision and a concern. The concern is that Ryan Day isn't the head coach we need. The vision, I suppose similar to Cooper, is that a win over scUM saves his job as we continue to limp forward.

Aside, well played by Nebraska. Matt Rule is a good coach, who got a raw deal in Carolina. They're a program back on the rise.

It’s up to Day Kelly and Frye to make the line respectable…maybe a fools errand. If you have options it means your screwed.
Your not screwed. There is so much you can do to keep a line "honest" to protect weaknesses.

1. Howard must run 8-10 times a game. If he does that the line will have to stay in their lanes and it limits their ability to rush wide.

2. Bootleg.

3. Shovel passes to one of the 2 best backs in the country underneath the left tackles outside rushes a few time. Agian it will limit his moves to help your weakness.

Those are just a few things you easily implement. No you can no longer use the whole playbook. No Day you can't pound it on 3rd and 1 anymore. But this coaching staff is still capable of having an explosive offense.

Just watching other games and seeing how teams scheme is enlightening to all the options out there. PSU used an extra heavy set a number of times last night. I believe they also were the ones that did a nice shovel pass at the goaline. They also ran a play where the TE came out and turned allowing the other receiver to go and legally picking the D in the process.

Shit even scUM ran a good 2 minute drill right before half and the QB had the ball out every pass in roughly 3 seconds.

It can be done and done effectively with the talent we have at the skill positions regardless of the line issues we are facing.

Three things Ohio State doesn't do.

1) Throw slant passes
2) Throw screen passes
3) Throw to the tight end more than one time a game
that's not entirely true - although they didn't throw them yesterday to be sure.

On the RPOs, a lot of the quick throws to the Wide Receivers are usually called "key screens"....

They haven't run a traditional running back screen which is disappointing.

I’m sorry this is on the coaching staff. I’m kinda worried that the coaches either:
1. Don’t see the issue
2. Too stubborn to admit there is an issue
3. Know there is an issue and this is the best they can do.

Edit:

This is the most concerning part
