Game Thread Nebraska at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 26, 12pm ET, FOX

I would correct this into saying it's far from the gimme that it was 2 weeks ago.

Defense loves to over pursue and run right past the QB/RB running, gap discipline is also very poor at times. Plus our love of leaving the middle wide open. Those are things this bum scUM squad can and will take advantage of.

Right, but until our offense got fucked, I wasn't worried about them being able to run enough quadruple lateral WR pass to the TE bullshit plays to be able to keep up. Now I'm afraid of even being able to block a 4 man rush long enough to complete a pass 8 yards down field.

I know exactly what you're saying....I'm not straw manning you. I'm saying it's the same thing as ESPN's made up reasons why 8 SEC teams are in the top 5.
No, you're straw manning.
It's not hard to figure out, it's just silly.
Yes, I agree your argument is that.
Did Jeremiah Smith have good body language when he torched everyone for that TD? Was Zen's body language bad when he stood up and looked lost on.....*checks notes*....every play?
lolzzz...
No, the players executed on good plays, and didn't on bad ones. "Body language" is like 5000th on the list of what's wrong with this team. And I don't mean there's a lot of things wrong with this team.
I'm talking team, not individuals. Even if a team has lost morale, there are still going to be plays that are made, even big plays. Uh, that doesn't mean the morale of the team isn't down.

You know, this, right?

Everyone has seen the teams on the sidelines and commentators saying how they look out of the game, low morale, and how it affects the entire team.

Body language says a lot, that's why it's studied, even if you dismiss it, and it can ruin a teams season, i.e. "lost the lockerroom," a "cancer on the team" &c.

Now, do said teams still make a play here and there? Of course, so your illustration is moot.

Michigan is not a good football team but unfortunately this team does a lot of things at times that play right into Michigans hands. That game is far from the gimmie some think it is.

Not arguing that. After 3 straight L's, I don't believe there's a single Buckeye calling The Game a 'gimmie.

Defensively - The defense needed a game like this - a game where they had to know they couldn't just rely on the offense to bail them out. It happened to work out in a game that never should have been remotely this close though. Still some things to clean up - Iggy being super handsy on coverage is baffling

Not really. I just got done with a piece on Martin Emerson and his struggles this season with the Browns. Iggy is in that similar mold. Taller corners who lack elite hip fluidity need to use their wingspan. He has struggled to find his balance and making that contact 2nd nature. In the spring he was too passive, then he became too aggressive. I would trust to see some type of leveling-out from that play sooner rather than later.

I remember in the Cooper years when scUM was regularly beating us. Their players were quoted saying they could see the fear in the Buckeyes eyes when the game was on the line.

I don’t think heart, desire, determination and attitude can be overlooked.

The discouraging thing about Zen, is the staff thought he was best equipped to be the LT out of the other O line members on the team. What does that say about the players that he passed over?
It makes me wonder what happened to Montgomery for sure. IIRC he was always the first guy in last year and came in on jumbo packages.

It also makes me wonder about the amount of money this staff is making and how we yearly about this time find ourselves discussing the weak links and who needs replaced at the end of the season.

Re: The college football transfer portal for the 2024-2025 academic year will open on December 9, 2024 and close on December 28, 2024

I'll say that (for next season)...

1) they need to hit the transfer portal for some OL really hard come December.
2) immediately up the NIL offer to a couple of the 5 star OL that they tried to recruit and see if they can get them to flip, etc

Just sayin': The sad thing about the state of affairs with the OL recruiting/development is that 2 of the starters this season were transfers too.

Interesting...hadn't thought about it being a mobility thing...

Believe what you want about the magical properties of bOdY LaNgUaGe, but stop telling me I'm straw manning you when I'm just using a comparison.

Body language argument::a bunch of nonsense that has nothing to do with skill, scheme, or coaching

ESPN Power Index::a bunch of nonsense that is all based on recruit rankings and ignores things like results on the field
