ND 34, TSUN 38 (Final)

This is perfect. It's going to be beautiful watching all of those Maize and Blue faces this November go from beaming with hope, certain that "4CA" is going to lead them to glory and end The Streak, to the tears and frowns we've come to know and love.

Yes, scUM fans. Tater is the "real deal". Brandon "Anything But" Minor is unstoppable. Cissoko is...uh...well...he's wearing a winged helmet and uniform, and isn't that really enough??? You have a chance against the Buckeyes this year...believe it. You do. You really, really do.

Don't know how good -- or bad -- ND is. Or for that matter, how good or how bad Michigan is. We'll find that out in the next two weeks. But a tip of the hat to Dick Wad. A vast improvement at QB. Minor is a good back and despite some woeful open field tackling the defense held when it had to.

A tip of the hat to ol' Strategic Advantage Weiss: throw the ball twice and stop the clock giving Michigan 2 precious time outs to work with. Was that engraved in your Super Bowl ring?

Finally; this was good for Michigan, good for the Big 10 and good for The Game. If ND had made their lead hold up there would have been little good news out of the Big 10 for the day.

Just because we beat Notre Dame doesn't mean people suddenly think we're unstoppable. The same ESPN analysts slobbing all over Michigan's dick were the same people projecting us to go 6-6 and have Rich Rod on the hot seat. I would think all of us know how ESPN rolls. They just pick a team to dickride on (usually USC or any SEC team) then just ride em til they lose, hop off and pick another team.

A win's a win, I'm proud of yesterday. But winning yesterday doesn't change the fact that we have 86 of 125 players on the team as freshman or sophomores who still are very uninexperienced.. or the fact that we don't play you guys for another 10 weeks and for all we know, every player on both team could get hurt, or either team can lose any game. What I see this as is a nice win, probably one of the most important wins for RR in his short tenure so far. But what it doesn't mean OMG WE'RE AMAZING GOING 57-0 WINNING THE NEXT 6 NCS!11! it's just a quality win over a quality (talent wise, not so much HC) team by a team trying to regain some national respect.

and if this comes off as a personal attack, then I'm sorry. It's not meant to be that way.

Congrats Michigan, you played a good game. It was entertaining to watch, thats for sure. Shitty weekend for football in Ohio to boot as the Pro teams lose and USC pulls one out in the end upsetting the Irish in me.

I definitly feel Weis lost this one for us. The team was playing well, offensively they were running the ball and passing well, but poor play calling at the end hurt us bad. With Floyd out they call 2 pass plays on the drive before Michigan's TD. Had they run a minute off the clock instead, Michigan probably would have driven the field for a FG and they duke it out in overtime.

I'm not quite sure what happened with the 11 seconds - 9 seconds thing, but it matters not. Michigan was better coached and deserved to win.

1st and goal on the one and your ND - what plays do you call?

1. Fade into endzone - incomplete
2. Out of the shotgun, fake the draw, overthrow TE in back of the endzone.
3. Roll the QB right, he sees the lone WR is double covered, tries to run it in himself - sacked for a loss.
4. Line up for fieldgoal, fake it, pass the ball to FB, overthrown and turnover on downs.

Have I imagined this all or is this accurate?

It's called "Strategic Advantage." Only those with the Super Secret Super Bowl Decoder Ring can make those kinds of calls and only other whales can pick them up.

One more Big 10 win and I think we'll be seeing a neck tie party in South Bend. Too bad. I like watching Charlie take it in the ear as much as I like watching Steve Spurrier react to an interception.

Well when you only have 5 wins, it's hard for it to not be one of the most important...

In all seriousness, though, we knew TSUN's offense would be better. How could it not be? Unlike Weis, RRod is a college coach. He knows how to coach up his players.

But the forecast is still very, very gloomy for tsun-- RRod better hope that this win didn't raise expectations too much, or when he fails to meet them, he might be in trouble. That defense is still paper and there is always, always going to be the fear that 4CA!! gets injured.

McDonough and Millen said after the game that the refs got together and determined Theo Riddick touched the ball before it bounced out the back of the end zone, so the clock should have started when that happened. That's the explanation, anyway.

Define "very, very gloomy." A lot of the teams on the schedule are coming away from the last two weeks with lowered expectations. Namely, Iowa (17-16 over Northern Iowa), Illinois (blown out by Missouri), and especially MSU. Michigan should be 4-0 going into East Lansing, and that game is going to look even easier after MSU gets blown out by Notre Dame. (I do not think Sparty is much good this year. I didn't think so before CMU, either.) Then there's Wisconsin, which admittedly has like their whole team down with the flu. We'll see if they're any good after they get healthy.

Barring another meltdown (highly unlikely IMO) or a rash of injuries in the wrong places, 5-7 is the absolute bottom. That would be pretty gloomy, but it requires us to lose every single up-for-grabs game. Do not be surprised if suddenly we're 7-0 with Penn State coming to town.

The roster limit is 105.........is there no rule you guys won't break? :tongue2:

Is "uninexperienced" the same as experienced? I don't have a degree from either Harvard (east or west) so that's why I'm asking.
