NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

there is also the philosophy that the prospects of "being taken care of" enduce the committment

Exactly.

Bottom line is that these rules are insane to enforce as it is. If you start drawing lines regarding when the inducement was provided and why you can just throw in the towel.

Me must do everything we can to ensure that the vast amounts of money flowing around in the world of football only end up in the pockets of those who are properly authorized to receive it - not those who play the game.

Ironically funny comments as usual.

Seems like the vitriole we have over this because of the lynching type audit we got from the NCAA might be a bit over the top here. All we suspect to know is that this Lake guy talked to the NCAA about Bush willingly taking gifts. We also know that USC allows a bit more access than most and perhaps this isn't prudent. But we're grasping a bit to definitely state that USC is willfully cheating here. Seems like we would want to let this play out rather than perform our own lynching here just to exorcise demons from our not-to-distant past.

How does this whole mess drag on like this? The solution is clear!

Look, Petey, you need to go to your #1 IT guy, have that guy find out who on your staff is feeding info to the schmoes at Yahoo!, then have LenDale White throw that staff member off the roof of a building.

Problem solved.

It's becoming more and more obvious with each story that the Woodward and Bernstein wannabes at Yahoo! have a 'Deep Throat' at Southern Cal, and I'm not talking about a Song Girl.

USC was not allowed to be a part on the meeting. Seems to be more plausable that Yahoo has a a direct line into the Attnys. I doubt that USC is feeding them any info.

USC will not get the death penalty if the coaches claim they didn't know...which is total bullshit. If it can be proved that the coaches set this up...USC is fucked. If in those tapes his stepfather says petey knew and or set it up for them they are fucked. Thats definately lack of institutional control. USC better get a dorm ready for the NCAA investigators because if this is proven so they are gonna camp out there. Getting 300,000 for a player or family member by setting them up with a booster or agent and being able to prove it with audio tapes=your fucked for a long long time. If this article has substance they are gonna forfeit alot of stuff and be penalized for a longtime. I could see Auburn getting the 2004 championship...it really sucks for their players/fans because they didn't win it on the field. Your right buddy sneaky pete probably has an ace in the hole...hell maybe snoop dog can help them out:!

The "death penalty" is currently a punishment under the NCAA's "repeat violator" rule. Since 1985, if a second major violation occurs at any institution within five years of being on probation in the same sport or another sport, that institution can be barred from competing in the sport involved in the second violation for either one or two seasons.

Whatever happens, they are not getting the "death penalty".

I really wish you'd get off this "death penalty" kick.....

If the violations were so blatant and obvious, the NCAA would have found them in the previous year and a half of searching......
