NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

Why I'm not defending the idiots over on those boards can you really blame them because the Reggie Bush story has been out there for how many years and what as the NCAA done besides nothing.

If the recent stories about USC were published about OSU the threads discussing those stories would be long and current. There might be a lot of denial BS, but we would certainly be talking about it.

I dunno. I'm not really expecting anything to happen either. Deep down......are you?

Deep down - yes. It may fall short of "failure to control" but I think they get hit fairly hard.

OH8, I hope you are right. For justice's sake anyway. Having said that, I respectfully disagree with the outcome projected. The farther away from the scene of the crime, the lesser the penalties (or so it seems).

If the NCAA hasn't come to a conclusion yet, then they will probably equivocate and say, 'let's make this a warning' (because we forgot what the original complaint was.....or some such). The fact that it's a premier, high profile university also makes their decision to come slamming down because an over-zealous alum violated a rule they did not know (or care) about, pretty hard to justify.

I agree that if true, then USC (or OSU) or whomever needs to pay the price in terms of lost schollies or being banned from post-season bowls. However, the realist in me says, 'no way'.

Sounds like this thread may be leading to a VBet-

What will the NCAA decide regarding it's investigation into U$C:

Basketball Sanctions
Football Sanctions
Lack of Institutional Control
No Action

A number of different parlays available there- Just looking for a chance to spend fake money.

again, these words are factually on tape....I just don't see how USC fans can condone this:

And Troy missed spring football and several games over $500.....Reggie's dad is on tape talking about paid cars and not telling Reggie's biological mom about all of the freebies b/c she'll be [censored]ed...and we're talking about over $200,000 in gifts to Reggie's parents and at least a car for Reggie.....

something seems wrong here, I just don't know what? Maybe someone else can explain it.

I can explain it--OSU admitted the wrongdoing, whereas USC has not. As I've said before, the NCAA should be worried about the signal it is sending to the rest of its members by how it has handled the USC situation.

Really adds no substance, but stirs the pot...

* Kim Kardashian is reportedly looking at engagement rings, arousing speculation that she and Reggie Bush may be looking to tie the knot soon. Her sister Kourtney said of Kim's ring hunt, "She found one the other day and she was like, 'It's only $20 million.'" Twenty million for a ring? Do you have any idea how many alleged sports marketing agents' payments to college players' families that amounts to?

I think Floyd will lose his job, but outside of that...
Exactly! That's about the extent that will happen. The worse for the football program would be Carrol leaving . I wouldn't look for that to happen. They could lose a couple scholarships, but they can withstand that with such a loaded program.
How would it all effect recruiting? That's a good question.

Carrol will lose Champion-ships before he loses Scholar-ships.

We had to take a banner down over Savovic. Michigan took down banners. Bowden is vacating wins. If any football players are determined not to have been eligible those wins don't count.

Exactly. The longer this drags out though, I think the less likely anything serious like that will happen. Carroll isn't going anywhere in all likelihood, but if he starts seriously considering NFL jobs next January...
