Progression won't be fixed. One of the new "features" EA was harping on for 10 was that you'd want to play your upperclassmen instead of your freshmen and sophomores. EA didn't want you just revamping your roster every year. The idea was to make freshmen rated lower but have the ability to progress. Unfortunately, the freshmen don't start with that low of a rating, they ALL progress like wild fire, and after a few years every team is nuts.

My defensive line in Year 4 of my Ohio State offline dynasty looks like this:

Nathan Williams - 99
Garrett Goebel - 99
Johnny Simon - 99
Melvin Fellows -97

The Linebackers?

Etienne Sabino - 99
Dorian Bell - 99
Storm Klein - 98

You get the idea.

It seems like there's a lot less variance in the progression too. Last year I remember a lot more guys that would progress 2 pts or 7. This year it seems like everyone is about 5ish, but I may be wrong on that.

Bring in 4 stars as 70s, 3 stars as 60s, the top-25 kids as 74-78s... and have most of them progress according to their ratings, with some variance. I realize I'm using logic here, but still...

Anybody else play around with the strategy before the game and during time outs? Lately I've been experimenting with the Agressive settings. I leave some settings as balanaced, or even conservative when it comes deflections over interceptions.

Anyway, I turned up fumbles against Michigan, which in turn increased the chance of facemask penalties. So far I haven't seen a big issue with penalties in this game, and my defense has been stout on All American difficulty. Well, I went from pitching a shut out to giving up a TD because I had 4, yes, 4 face mask penalties in a row. I've seen a game where there were two in a row, never 4 though. Didn't have another one all game.

Anyway, I did cause two fumbles and recovered one, so I'll probably continue to use some of the Agressive tactics. Anybody else play around with these, and which ones do you have more success with?

I almost always use big hit, close zones, interception, and jump snap. Then on Offense i use catch over big play. Seems to work well. If i'm down at the end i'll go more aggresive, if i'm up i'll go more conservative.

I use jump snap on aggressive and have never had an offsides or encroachment because of it.
It happens, usually only once a game at most, though I had one user game where it happened 4 times.

I skip big hit, I want to know my defender has the best chance of stopping him there.

Did you just get the game? :p That's the one problem with the gameplan, strip ball = facemasks. And yes, they will happen constantly...

I just started tinkering around with these last game. I did so because I'm sure the CPU's been using them against me. As soon as I'd get up by a few scores the BS would start to happen, and they'd always come back to within a score. I got up on the CPU last night and used some of these settings and was able to maintain my large lead. I really just wish they'd take this stuff out of the game though. Let the teams play each other straight up without this nonsense.

lol, na, but I've been busy playin' some other stuff for the most part. I was a little disappointed with some of the rosters that were put out the first week, so I waited a bit for corrections.

I've never understood why strip ball = facemask. It's been that way for a long time, going back to PS2 at the very least. I first started noticing it when I would try to strip the ball myself. It looked like the defender was trying to rip the guy's helmet off rather than rip the ball out at times. I suppose it's just a counter to ball stripping, a gamble that can hurt you like going for INTs. Ideally trying to force a fumble should just make you miss a tackle if you fail to get the ball out.

New patch came out yesterday, in it EA fixed the disconnect issues in online games, as well as this little thing called...

PROGRESSION. The new progression models now follow more of the Last Gen ideas. Where great improvement is around 5-6 points and the average (depending on athletic facilities grade and team prestige) is around 3.

I might take a stab at restarting my OSU dynasty. Or even taking a low rung team and trying to up them to a BCS conference and eventually a national title.

I was wondering what that patch from the other night fixed, just was too lazy to search online to find it. And while it might have fixed online disconnects, it still took me forever to download a dynasty after 5-6 tries without getting a "file was missing" message.

Hopefully they fixed the progression right, I know alot of dynasty guys were worried it would ruin the online dynasties.
