I want to know who thought it was a good idea to spam their brand on the field goal net. Like the logo is not all over everything anyway... :shake:
Fortunately, our brilliant graphics engineers created what is called the Texture Compositor. This was originally developed for handling created stadiums and uniforms for Madden. It allows the game to take multiple pieces of art and combine them into one as the game loads. Before we had to use a single piece of art for every field. With 120 teams and 38 bowl and championship games there was no way to create a field for every game with every possible team matchup and fit it on the disk (I was going to do the math but gave up quickly!). Instead we have 38 bowl and championship fields with blank endzones, and 120 custom endzones (one for each team). When you load into a bowl or championship game, the Texture Compositor takes the three pieces of art and combines them into one field.
That's very basic programming and reeks of leaving things out to add 'features' down the road (like now).

Looks like madden continues to have the better additions:
EA Sports

I really don't get the monopoly of good programming (at least most years). Both products are tremendous and will be bought in excess, why not give us the features for both and simply tweak the speed and gameplay with sliders?

This might be one of the first years in a long time that I don't go out and buy this game the day it comes out. The only thing I ever play is dynasty and other than recruiting that aspect of the game really hasn't changed all that much.

and that's just the thing..When you ask the developers questions on OS or ncaastrategies they always say something like "that will take too much space or time"...When some of the things people were asking for were already implemented into ESPN 2k5..but these guys are supposed to be the best???

People have to realize the graphics power of the consoles don't change. After the 2nd iteration of the game they are pretty maxed out. I forget the ATI card in the 360, but the PS3 has a 7 series NVidia card. The 360 has an equivalent ATI card. That was 3 generations ago, and the 8 series was a huge jump. There is only so much either of those cards can do, and for most games have huge issues with 1920x1080 (hence why most are not native 1080p). You won't see a major jump in graphics until the next consoles are released. I already play a ton of games on computer with my GTX280's, and with graphics maxed at 1920x1200. It makes the graphics on the 360 look like crap (of course not NCAA, but games in general).

My complaint was that it looked worse than I remembered.

Madden 09 looks better than those screenshots.

They also say that the online dynasty 'players leaving' glitch isn't in the code. I really don't think that they know what they're doing.

'10 Cover boy?

For years I've been waiting for a Buckeye to grace the cover. I finally felt we would get one for NCAA '08 after Troy Smith won the Heisman and played in the title game. If you think about it most recent cover athletes have one of those in common, or being a first round draft pick in other cases. Then I see Boise State's QB on the cover, and he accomplished none of those. So my question is what does a Buckeye have to do to get on the cover? Especially if they continue this "different cover athlete for each platform" thing?

NCAA Football 10: Super Sim Updates - Inside EA - Inside EA

The beginning of some good stuff to come (hopefully)

Who gives a rats ass about Super Sim? One glaring thing that I think needs to be fixed is the mo cap. The way players ran last year looked TERRIBLE! They could save loads of space by getting rid of crap like this(new super sim features) and things like the Mascot Game.

The super sim feature is an awesome feature in my opinion...

and now that they improved it it will be a lot more realistic... I had a huge issue with the super sim last year and I'm really glad they fixed it.

They really need to update the announcing. I'm so sick of hearing Corso & Herbstreit say the same damn thing EVERY game for the past 5 years it seems. I was hoping the 09 game would change but the first time I heard "He runs a 4.3 non-wind aided 40" I turned the announcing off and have kept it that way.

Plus the way the players run down the field looks so goofy. I'll end up buying it regardless just for the roster updates and such but it would be nice to see some real changes instead of flash bulbs, kick nets with EA logos and endzones with team names on them.

An interesting feature (which EA would love because it's fluff rather than actual gameplay programming) would be to add about 5-6 sets of announcers, and have them switch off based on the caliber of the game. Of course you'd risk Pam Ward this way, but it would be interesting to get some variety in the announcing. I would think the contract rates would be pretty affordable for the 2nd/3rd/4th tier announcing teams.

Hooray for gaming monopolies!

One thing I always wanted to see in Madden (it's not possible, but just imagine..) is the teams' radio announcers doing the games. That would be beyond cool.

It would be cool if it could happen in NCAA too, but the amount of teams makes it impossible.
