Nutt addresses speculation in open letter

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) ? Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt said in an open letter Tuesday that Razorback fans who obtained records regarding his school-issued cellphone and suggested he had an improper relationship with a woman were spreading "unfounded gossip" that had hurt his wife.

Cell-phone records obtained by fans and media under Arkansas' Freedom of Information Act showed that Nutt exchanged text messages with the cellphone of a female television news anchor more than 1,000 times over a six-week period, including once just 19 minutes before the start of the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1.

Nutt said his correspondence was appropriate communication with a friend and colleague, some of it about her work for a non-profit organization with which he is involved. "Any allegation or suggestion that our professional and personal friendship or involvement goes beyond that is false, careless, and purposefully vindictive," Nutt wrote.

1,063 text messages?! In 43 days?! Is this guy a major college football coach or a f****** stalker? Folks, that works out to 24.7 messages A DAY. Just over one AN HOUR. High school kids don't send this many text messages to the girl they lost their virginity to a week before prom. Put it this way, Yost and I have been running this blog since October, 2005, and we've only put up roughly 1,400 posts. In over a year and a half!

What are you talking about? I've sent more texts than that in a day to my Jodie Foster. The fact that she never returns any does not alter our wedding plans. She's likely out getting hot waxed. Or at the hardware store replacing the 22" case hardened chains around her back gate that somehow got cut off.... :moody:
