Case dismissed
Arkansas ends lawsuit pertaining to Mustain email

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- A state judge dismissed a lawsuit Monday against University of Arkansas officials over an e-mail critical of former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain.

Washington County Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay ruled in the case brought by John David Terry of Mount Ida, who claimed that public money was misused because university Chancellor John A. White had Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt investigate the e-mail.

si.com (again) for this snippet.

At one point in his oral argument, Christian read from Prewett's e-mail to Mustain, and the judge agreed that it was "despicable." But Lindsay appears swayed by the defense's argument that his court is no place for the matter to be discussed.
"It belongs on an Internet message board or in a chat room," Bassett said. "Not in a court room."

Well, alrighty then!

Polling all Razorbacks - Are you satisfied or not with Head Coach Nutt?

Fan releases self-commissioned poll on fanbase satisfaction with Nutt. Claims 63% are satisfied to a high or somewhat level in Nutt's performance.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- An Arkansas football fan commissioned a poll asking Razorbacks supporters if they're satisfied with embattled coach Houston Nutt.
Some public-opinion sampling experts are dissatisfied with the methodology.
"Be very careful overreading this thing," said Robert Eisinger, chair of Lewis and Clark College's political science department. "Sometimes no data are better than bad data."
Roger Wooley, a longtime Razorbacks fan living near Birmingham, Ala., was hoping to measure public opinion on several topics facing Arkansas' athletic program. He released the poll results Monday at a news conference in downtown Little Rock: 63 percent of those surveyed are either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with Nutt, and 28 percent are either somewhat dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.

....

The poll included 600 respondents, at least 500 of which had to watch Arkansas sports "as often as they could," according to the cover letter. The overall breakdown on Nutt was as follows: 24 percent very satisfied, 39 percent somewhat satisfied, 13 percent somewhat dissatisfied and 15 percent very dissatisfied.
But whether those results are meaningful is in question. Berinsky said the poll was better than an unscientific Internet poll -- he and Eisinger had no major complaints about the survey's sample. But they said some questions were not worded well.

Those results are only as meaningful as how much the AD, the president, board of directors, etc. care about them.

Arkansas fan's lawyer refiles lawsuit

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- A lawyer for the man suing University of Arkansas officials over a harsh e-mail sent to former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain filed a revised lawsuit Monday.

Washington County Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay earlier this month dismissed all four complaints in a suit filed by John David Terry of Mount Ida, but gave him 20 days to file amended pleadings regarding two of the complaints.

Arkansas RB coach Danny Nutt resigns due to health reasons

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Arkansas running backs coach Danny Nutt is resigning because of a recurrence of bleeding from his brain stem.

Nutt, 46, is the younger brother of head coach Houston Nutt. Danny Nutt, who had brain surgery in 1998, is currently receiving treatment for what the university called "a serious condition that includes bleeding from his brain stem."

Danny Nutt is in Fayetteville and not in the hospital, university spokesman Kevin Trainor said, but his condition "could be life-threatening."

That car scares me. I'm about to draft him in the college fantasy football league and I'm afraid he's going to be injured in and accident.:!

Well, he injured his foot last year in a brawl where I think someone was trying to steal his car.

Trojans' Mustain struggles in debut
BY SCOTT WOLF, Staff Writer
Article Last Updated: 08/06/2007 10:11:51 PM PDT

USC opened practice for the 2007 season, but it was impossible to ignore the biggest question of 2008 during Monday's initial workout.

Former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain made his USC debut and gave himself poor marks for his opening performance, which probably surprised those who eagerly awaited his transfer.

"It was kind of frustrating for me today," Mustain said. "It wasn't so much the physical stuff, I was accurate and had zip on the ball but my timing was off and there were too many mental errors.

"The hard part was mentally and not making mistakes."

Mustain will challenge Mark Sanchez and Aaron Corp in the spring in the search for a successor to John David Booty. He's become an Internet sensation among USC fans who believe he will win the job.

"It's really quick (facing the defense)," Mustain said. "We pride ourselves on doing everything quick here. I just think I could have done better. I made some good throws once I settled down and did not make as many errors."
