Multiple shootings at Va Tech

this has nothing to do with the issue but i rewatched a documentary i had of the texas whitman shootings and honestly that would be probably one of the scariest situations you could have. no obviously now a days somebody would just fly a chopper over the tower and take the guy out but if you are on the ground defenseless and the police cannot even hit a guy because he has cover with marine experience and a sniper rifle.....well you're doneskis right there.

he would have shot a lot more than 12 people, but some guys went running for their own guns and started shooting back...

i thought he killed 16 and wounded more? doesn't matter its just the guy had an elevated and holes in the side of the wall 360 degrees around the tower. from an elevated position you honestly can't ask for a better position to snipe people. he could pop out of any side of any hole and bang take you down. that would be a very helpless situation(minus a chopper)

Wife just told me our wacky female friend has a 38 and was planing on taking it with her on an out of state trip!
WTF! This gal is a basket case and she owns a gun she has never had instruction on?
She's a bigger menace to those around her and herself than anyone is to her!

Fair enough point but some of the arguements on this topic fail to address some important issues. For example, some people think that it is a great thing that the public has concealed guns that they can just run and go get or carry with them. Problem is why does everyone think it is okay for the average american to take the law into their own hands? Law enforcement should handle the situation not a bunch of people with concealed carry permits. Average Americans are not trained to deal with major situations like this and by arming everyone you put the lives of Law enforcement officers in just as much danger if not more than the people they are trying to save. I am at the lowest level of law enforcement but everytime I approach anyone especially in their vehicle it is in the back of my mind "God, I hope they don't have a gun." Especially because I don't have anything close to a gun made available and even if I did I wouldn't feel much better. Just some thoughts so take it for what it's worth. I would love to get Buckin' A's thoughts on this topic...as I am sure he would know much more about dealing with guns and concealed and carry laws etc. Paging Buckin'A! :biggrin2:
