This is like asking who is the better player Hartline or Drew Carter. Beanie,like Pitt is obviously going to end up as the better OSU running back by simply playing more. However I still say Maurice,to completely take over his first games as a freshmen at Ohio State was something else.Beanie is a beast but there was something about Clarett that gave you a supreme confidence when he was back there,much like Troy...I put guys like Hawk,Doss,Nugent and 02' Gamble in that select group as well(as far as the JT era).

Wells is getting that special "aura",if he doesn't already have it,but Maurice had it as a freshmen. Had the 'shoe chanting Maurice in his third game,comes into THE game and receives a huge ovation..that's some special ish.

the only reason this is even a question is because beanie was 2nd string his first season on a team that lost the nc and moc was a successful starter on a nc winning team. newsflash people, if pittman would have been in the program and a junior when moc came onboard he would have been 2nd string just like wells was.

in 2 seasons beanie has eclipsed moc's accomplishments in less than 1. the 02 TEAM won the nc, not moc.

I think Tressel is using Beanie better than Mo C. Beanie has shown he can run tuff and win games but Tressel isn't burning him out. He is letting Beanie heal and rest during the season. Beanie's stats and contribution would be similar to Mo C if he was being used the same way. Kudos for the staff for saving the best of Beanie for the biggest games. At this point in the season Mo C could barely lift his arm. He rocked Washington St. and getting his fumble back was un-F'n real but there were a lot of games in the middle where he was walking wounded.

Tressel also has the luxury of being able to use MoWells, and Saine.. Ross was busy photoshoping counterfeit stripper bucks

True dat. What I was saying was if we needed Beanie like we needed Mo he would come through for us. He is being used differently and appropriately but he has the ability to take control of a game.

I agree with you there, but if he wouldn't of made that strip when tOSU turned it over, I think the game would've been over. Either way....We won. :biggrin:

Clarett was more naturally talented. It's alreadt been said in this thread and I agree: Clarett was the most naturally talented RB Ohio State has ever had. Too bad they overused him, which led to his stinger injury. It's also too bad his mom and everyone else were in his ear to go to the NFL.

Clarett is not the most naturally talented Rb we have ever had. He possibly isn't even in the top 5.
