Mizzou Tigers (official thread)

I don't know nearly enough about the situation to make any definitive statements

Which you follow by making a definitive statement.

, but I do find it interesting how much effort always goes into attacking the character of minority activists/victims in order to ignore them or justify what happened to them.

Always? How is that different than any other group or individual? Change "minority" to "Joe" & you are a valued poster on BWI.

Whether he is right or wrong Clay Travis at least attempted to address the available information. Pity you were unable to do the same & instead attacked the person rather than his points.

Clay Travis is supposedly a reporter. He couldn't have gathered information for himself? It has to be spoonfed to him? What stopped him from looking for that police report?

Whether 86 will admit or you will acknowledge it, the inference was that the criticism of the initial claims was related to the protesters being minorities.
What? Whether I will acknowledge what? Somebody claiming Clay Travis was saying stupid things because he's a racist? All I saw was people calling him a troll. But I don't look for race in everything.

So that threat is appropriate response to the protests? Or could we, like, you know, acknowledge that, maybe, that post (if legitimate) kinda validates what the protestors are saying?

Well, there's really the interesting question.

What does "legitimate mean" - if there's really a dude out there that's gonna shoot up the place? Yeah.

If its just some troll? Newsflash, people, especially young people... say ill considered things. The signs are again pointing to an awful lot of embellishment about the particular events that got us here. (I like the unconfirmed KKK sightings on Campus specifically)

Facts matter.

I'm tired of hearing about safe places, and healing places and all that crap. There's bad stuff in the world kids. You know ISIS and people who eat cows, and Christians... cars that use gasoline... really scary stuff. Some of that stuff is gonna be near you. Crying about your pain is useless and nihilistic. This isn't a debate right now, its an attempt at cleansing, that will ultimately fail. (See carnivores and gasoline powered cars, they will be with us for the future unfortunately)

For the record, the definitive statement I was avoiding was about whether everything at Missouri was made up.

I don't know if it's outright racism, but I do think the overwhelming reaction to incidents involving minorities is to find ways to excuse and ignore them because we have made so much progress and live in a post racial society.

African Americans who get shot by police (or whoever) are thugs and criminals and had it coming. African Americans who complain about racism at Missouri are just making it all up.

There is no doubt this is a trend- what are the motivating factors behind it? I suspect it's strong indifference based on the otherness of the people it's happening to. Is that racism?

I suppose that's up for debate, but it's not hard to guess where people will tend to come down on that question.
