Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

actually the only thing inflated is your opinion of your own football knowledge. Ken Anderson holds the record at around 70% (strike shortened season) and Steve Young is very close at 70.3%. He went over 65% several times.

I'm talking about for a career fuckstain.

Point being that it's nearly impossible to consistently throw for a 65% completion percentage.

So do those of you who think Vick is a good QB think he will ever win a Super Bowl? Personally I think he only has 3 or 4 more seasons before he loses a step and can't run as well. If he doesn't become a consistently better passer he doesn't have a chance. As I said before I think the Falcons would be better off moving Vick to Slash and getting a pro style QB. Winning a lot of games is far different than winning the big games. When teams can stop Vick from running he usually loses.
Since when is 22 of 31 for 228 yards and 1 TD a "great" performance? Dilfer was 18 of 34 for 272 and 1 TD does that make him great?

Career leaders (1500 attempts):

Kurt Warner, 65.9
Daunte Culpepper, 64.37
Steve Young, 64.28

So, maybe I was off by a percentage point or two, but I think it is definitely the case that in this day and age of 2-yard dumpoffs and 5-yard slants, QBs running a West Coast variant should be hitting at least 60% for a season. Though I don't know the entire all-time list, I wouldn't be surprised if every one of the top 15-25 in completion percentage will have played after 1980, and most of them will have been after 1990, when all is said and done.

I actually am with you that Vick is overrated.

I was just providing some stats for the sake of argument.

I honestly believe that Vick can lead his team to a superbowl. He has a great running game and they have a defense. He does what he has to do to get his team a win. If it be putting up the yards passing or running or w/e. Some people probably said Barry Sanders would lose a step, same with other guys with speed. He is still learning the west coast offense and he is beginning to through the ball better.

When you talk about Vick's performance vs. Dilfer you have to factor in his 50 or so yards on the ground, when the D thought they had him stopped and he went for 20 yards. If you watched the game, you saw vick hitting recievers all day against a pretty good defense, eluding the rush of Jason Taylor a couple times and just making good decisions. Yes I say it was a damn good day, maybe not great, but he isnt the type of qb to put up 350yds. passing. If he goes for 250 it is a career day. Hell Peyton just went for over 300 for the first time last nite.

Another thing I think people are forgetting is his youth, he is still young.

I'm sure it's already been said, but I just want to reiterate it. Michael Vick may not be a great passing QB, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is a proven winner. Do you remember when Vick was out for most of the 2003 season? The Falcons were awful that season, and then when he came back in 2004, he led them to the NFC Championship. Equally impressive, was beating the Packers at Lambeau in 2002.

i dont remember the exact stat, but it was something about no QB with over 350 yards rushing (for the season) has ever won a superbowl (in that season).

Vick is good, and his running threat is enough to have to make adjustments when you play him, but untill i see some kind of stability in him im not a believer. he did beat the packers at Lambeau field a few years back and that was a pretty big accomplishment, but still even if you go back to his college days, he never has come up big in the postseason. he lost to FSU in the NC in college, and has now not won anything in the playoffs.

i think that after his career is said and done, he will be more of a "novelty" QB that you remember was exciting to watch and was an incredible athlete, but was out of position. i just dont see him coming up big in a super bowl-type game against a true great defense.

? he led the falcons to the NFC championship game.............one away from the super bowl and that was without any good recievers on the team so i dunno what you are talking about.

So this guy throws for 228 and 1 TD and now he's talking shit. Amazing.

Where was all the "give me my due" talk the week before when he put up that amazing 16.3 QB rating? Or the week prior to that with the 58.6 rating? Care to explain the 70.8 for the season Ron Mex...errr Mike? Or why your 26th in the NFL for QB rating?

You know, if you suck at something and pull one good game out of your ass, the desire to run to the nearest bank of microphones and thump your chest about your 1 good game this year speaks volumes about the guys level of maturity, or lack thereof.

Now not only do I think he's a terrible passer and completely overhyped but he's a punk of the first order as well. I don't think the little brother fell far from the tree.
