Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

maybe the best defense inthe league and the best running game in the league

right... which is why you don't need a "superstar" "Mr. NFL" type passer. If Trent Dilfer can win a Super Bowl with the Ratbirds then Vick can win one with the Falcons if they build the right TEAM around him... which included a tough defense and ball control offense.

Kordell Vick, that is what I call him. Vick had 16.36 rating with 0 TDs and 3 INTs Monday night. Vick is throwing at 52.6%, a paltry 5.74 per passing attempt, 5 TDs, 6 INTs and 65.2 rating. A 52.6% completition rate in the west coast offense is horrid. And NFL commentators are saying that this is improvement? Any other QB with those stats, especially more INTs than TDs would at least be getting some heat. Football is a team sport, so I don't know why people keep flaunting this 5-2 record around. The Falcons have a great defense and running game. His passing stats are pathetic. When Vick has to go against a great defense against the run he is finished. It is time for people to quit making accuses for him. This is his 5th year in the league, how long does it take a damn QB to develop? He locks on to Alge Crumpler and throws worm burners to his wide outs. He has absolutely no pocket awareness and can't read a defense. It is time for people like John Madden and Sean Salisbury to get Vick's cock out of their mouth. But, but he runs fast and looks spectacular sometimes. Obviously the horrible sports crowds in Atlanta care about what looks good and buyting Vick merchandise than winning a Super Bowl because Vick is never winning a Super Bowl.

Vick will never be a traditional drop back QB. He makes plays other players can't make with his legs. He is a average at best passer and a tremendous playmaker. I just wonder how many times he can run out of the pocket and not get killed. He averages I think around 7-9 runs a game.

How long will he be able to get it done without being a above average passer? Its anyone's guess.

That's not the only point of the original post....

Good call!

As I remember, there was a guy named Tibor on this very message board arguing the exact opposite last year....too bad he isn't around anymore to give the other side of the argument.

Man some of you guys kill me. You say he is overrated b/c he not a great passer, but he bring a whole other dimension to the game. He can make something out of nothing. He is not always forced to throw it on 3rd and 4 he can run for the first down, can Manning do that. Does that mean that Manning is overrated b/c he can't run and pass, No.

Bottom line is he wins, that is all that matters. Also for those of you asking what he has won in terms of championships he is only 23. How old is Peyton and how many big games has he won, but yet he is considered the best QB in the league. Also what about the Media darling of the last couple years Daunte Culpeper, what is he doing this year.

Wins Losses
Carr: 14 35
Vick: 30 16

With the way our scoring has been the last few years, i've learned that W's and L's are the most important stat.

It's not ever fair to compare the W/L's between Vick and Carr. One player doesn't win a game. Carr came in on an expansion team while Vick has a good defense and great running game w/ Dunn/Duckett to back him.

I think he's a good qb with his scrambling ability but he's not one of the elite QBs in the NFL. Winning is important but a QB is only part of what it takes to win a football game or else Marshall, Tulane, or Fresno State would have a national title between their QBs. He's got a good arm and I think it's possible he could develop into a more effective passer. Where is this guy gonna be when he's 30 or loses a step?

The hype with this guy is too much. If you ask the average person who they think the best QB in the NFL is most of the time they'll go with Vick. He's got so much hype he's the best known QB in the NFL and a media darling. Where was anyone in the media with the Ron Mexico story? If that had been Daunte Culpepper or Tom Brady that would have been a big story. This guys bandwagon makes the Bengals look like a model train.

Vick is 25 years old. Football is team game, winning is a team stat. Do have ever listen to commentators talk about Vick? They always make accuses for him. He is the media darling. Vick is the Ray Lewis on the offensive side of the ball. Overhyped and overrated. Manning is one of the top 2 QB's (along with Brady) in the league. I would take him over Vick anyday of the week.
