Mike Leach (HC Mississippi State, a National Treasure, R.I.P.)

Adam James is a pussy AND a snitch. That won't get you far in life kid. I feel for Leach. This was the quickest firing I've ever seen over one (very questionable) complaint, from one kid, that didn't even seem like it was done being fully investigated. Sure I thought Leach would be fired in the near future anyway, but not now...not for this.

My Coach wasn't my "buddy." I remember one time he walked up and stood on my stomach while we were doing leg lifts because I had dogged in on some wind sprints earlier in the day, saying "You gonna puss out and quit the leg lifts like you pussed out doing sprints??? Are you, 'causeI hear a Cheerleader position is open, but you won't play safety for me!"

Last time I dogged it in sprints.

I remember getting the open hand upside the earhole of my helmet and getting dragged around by my facemask. Back in the seventies no one said boo squat about that kind of treatment and my dad who was a coach himself certainly wasn't going to hear anything about it.....

We just live in a different world today....

Damn right, I bet Woody and Bear Bryant are rolling over in the graves right now!

Football has become such a soft sport. If you drive the QB to the ground - flag for excessive hitting. If your 6'4" linebacker cant get lower than the opposing 5'10" runningback - flag for helmet to helmet. Chastising a player openly in front of his teammates and "brothers" - fined for insensitivity. You put a player in a room big enough to hold media personnel - FIRED?!

Seriously, football all around is becoming a spiritual filled, hippie ran, pussy sport. Every hit, every tackle, every word, every action is over-analyzed and critiqued. If you want PC, go to a political debate. Leave football the way it was.

Maybe this just brings out my old-fashioned side, but here - for what it is worth, is my take.

A - this is undoubtedly the biggest hose job by an AD on a head coach, fired days before a big bowl game, since tOSU's AD put the shiv between Bruce's shoulder blades prior to Michigan week.

B - ESPN via Holtz (who should absolutely know better) is railing on Leach for ignoring the medical staff or trainers. He tells us he knows this is so because, "I made the same mistake." Now that might make sense, if Leach had forced James to play through a concussion. That might make sense if Leach's recollection of events was at odds with those of his medical staff. But, he didn't, and he isn't.

C - So I'm left looking at all the other evidence. What Leach did was, at worst, treat a kid badly by singling him out. What Leach really did wrong was to make an example of a kid who was willing to use his pipeline to negative media coverage to his advantage - and screw the coach. What Leach also did was care more about coaching than making nice with the AD -and that, for the moment costs him 800k.

I hope Leach does take TT to court, in Lubbock, where he likely enjoys near demi-god status and gets triple damages from a jury - largely composed of Red Raider fans.

Well, that whole "no water...have a salt tablet" thinking almost killed me - literally - practicing in the Vero Beach mid-August heat and humidity.

Glad they finally figured out that hydration deal.

now we have the TT chancellor spouting how gruesome Leach was ..

Put James in a closet.

Gave James a dressing down with - shocking, shocking - harsh words!

Plus he's hard-headed, durn it!

What a crock.

Someone on ESPiN FINALLY mentioned something about the quotes in support of Leach. Rece Davis said something passively about "former players" coming out on Leach's side, then they showed the Perry quote completely overexaggerating the situation.

Fucking ESPiN :shake:

Why haven't they shown that video showing the facilities he was in? They have to know about it, biased assholes

Dudley nailed my head to the floor, but I had it coming to me... but Dinsdale was the one -- he --used -- sarcasm.

sounds to me like it wasn't about the treatment of James, so much as it was the attitude he displayed toward his boss once the incident occured. it really doesn't matter who you are. if you spout off to your boss and act like you are better than him, you probably won't be around too long.

I know that Leach did help make them competitive, but maybe if they bring in a better recruiter, they might actually be able to put a QB in the NFL instead of the gimmick crap that results in insurance salesmen.

They'll defend themselves with "Absence of Malice". It's very difficult to prove malice by media entities.

I'm not a lawyer, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I saw the movie of that name.

They are hard at work publishing little fluff pieces so that they can present an overall balanced coverage. As usual with ESPiN, disgusting. I'm no Leach fan and I have no knowledge of what went on except for that video, but it seems clear that this is not over and it will not end well for anyone, especially Texas Tech and the kid.
