Mid-Majors and Their Crazy Antics

They're called Ohio University. The state is called Ohio. Idiots.

I think what drives them (both the bobcatattack morons and the Beavis Fredo admins) is that deep down inside, they really know that we are "OHIO." We are the state's flagship university. We are the state's nationally and internationally recognized research university. We are the sports program that Ohio kids grow up following and for whom they dream of playing. They know that they are Ohio State's safety school's safety school. They know that they are nothing, yet they cling to the imbecilic delusion that if they can somehow get people to call them Ohio instead of OU while preventing us from using the term in some relatively meaningless athletic contexts, that will somehow undo the last century and a half of history. They was passed ovuh!

That's ridiculous. Using that dude in your meme? C'mon, Ohio University-Athens. That guy has way more credibility and recognition than you ever will.

ORD - I think deep down their too stupid to realize that in their quest to be recognized as legitimate and big time, the bitching about "Ohio" screams small time penis envy. It's not much unlike rooting against Ohio State in a football game rather than for OU (See also, Juggalos). People are willing to let others, including institutions, rise and fall on their own merits. If they want to be big time, then they should simply take pride in what they and their school has to offer rather than this minor league shit.

They don't even understand the history of the copyright fight. They just point to us filing the lawsuit. We only filed the lawsuit because Beavis Fredo's lawyers sent us a cease and desist letter. That was the catalyst for the whole legal fight, not anything we did. We were content to just let things go on as they always had, but when presented with a legal cease and desist demand we had no choice but to respond legally.

As for the latter part of your statement. They don't want that. They want what is ours: the role that we were founded to fill because they were too incompetent to fill it. Even, a century later, when a dimwitted Governor and a hostile Board of Regents tried to knee-cap us, they still couldn't manage to assume and fill that role, so they demand that it simply be given to them. Fuck them and that loudmouthed President McDowell.

I guess that's what I mean, ORD - they refuse to do what it takes to earn the recognition and instead go off on these odd quests. OU was founded in, what... 1804? Ohio State was founded in 1870.. that's nearly a 70 year head start and they still failed. Fuck em.

I know that I've posted it before, but there's a letter written around the turn of the century by the President of the Carnegie Higher Education Foundation to the Ohio Governor explaining why Ohio's application for something relating to a faculty pension fund was denied. He essentially praised Ohio State but told the Ohio Governor to get rid of Fredo and Beavis Fredo and then--and only then--might Ohio have a higher education system equivalent to those of Wisconsin or Michigan.

The irony of your grammatical error in the first sentence is rich. Thanks.

Beavis, Fredo, blah blah blah, but the Bobcats opened up a huge can of whoopass on the same Akron Zips that nearly (and should have) beat Michigan. Solich continues to prove he's one of the better gameday coaches in college football.
