I love these crazy bastards. They're like the Agent Van Alden of Ohio college message boards. They're boring for awhile. You just know though that the crazy is bubbling to the surface, and when it hits, hilarity will ensue.

I should post there the story of my son. He was a high school senior last year and applied to OSU and also Ohio U. OSU accepted him very quickly and offered him a schollie for $3500/year and the opportunity for more schollie money via the Honors Program. He was pretty excited since OSU was his dream school.
Then he says to me, and this is the exact quote, "The only way OU would have a chance is if they offer me a full-ride scholarship."
Two days later, he gets a letter from OU....they were offering him a full-ride schollie. That offer gave him a minute or two of euphoria and minor thought. Very minor thought as he is currently in his first semester at OSU.
Yes he turned down a full-ride to OU to go to OSU. The main reason is probably growing up in my house (I have 2 degrees from OSU and his mom has her degree from OSU) you are surrounded by OSU stuff from birth. The other main reason for him was academics. For his area, OU can't compete with OSU. He knew it, he researched it, and as he put it, "I believe that the OSU diploma looks better than an OU diploma."
And he would read the first post in that thread, specifically the first sentence,
I've been fighting the good fight for many decades in the heart of the evil empire but I'm starting to feel like Sisyphus must have felt long ago when pushing that rock up a mountain.
and he would wonder why the author of the post didn't simply put a period after Sisyphus, as most OSU grads and current students wouldn't need the rest of that poorly constructed sentence
.
