Michigan Coaching Speculation

I agree completely Jax

in the same vein, another thing I've noticed about RR is his body language and facial expressions in WVU's losses this year. He seems like a nervous Nelly when things get tough. I have to believe the players react to this and get tight as well.

I think RR is an outstanding X's and O's guy, but not sure he's a coach that can win on the biggest of stages.

I've noticed his sideline demeanor as well. What a fucking whiner this guy is when things don't go right for his team in games. He's almost as bad as Lllllloyd at whining and carrying on. I don't think I've ever seen JT scream at a player on the sideline in the middle of a game they way RR did during the Pitt game this year. RR is a no class ass.

At any rate, he's perfect for scUM. Let them have him!

As far as Devine, Lazear, Pac Man, Chris Henry I think some of that is the product of his circumstances at WVU. No instate talent base and surrounded by major programs. To get a five star type talent like Devine he's gotta hope they have some sketchy attributes. He's got a track record of recruiting sketchy players but with Michigan's name value he might not have to do that anymore. He did have the fortitude to kick Chris Henry off of the team and his doesn't seem have any criminal trouble out of the ordinary for a big time program.

I would bet this whole flirtation is a ploy to get another renegotiated contract a la Tubberville's flirtations. If Michigan was going to spend the money to pry RichRod away (which I doubt) why didn't the pony it up for Miles or talk to Petrino? Both of them I would think would be unanimously considered better for the job.

After taking it as far as he did last year I can't conceive he would pull the same stunt - or that WVU would fall for it.

And as for making "compromises" to get recruits, I agree he wont have to. But isn't that a character issue? (If I had Brad Pitt's looks I probably wouldn't carry the date rape drug around in my billfold - but I would be no less a scumbag.)
There are always going to be recruits who can take you to a higher level and who need just a little something extra to sign the LOI.

Staying where?

I have been to the WV boards and they don't want him anymore.

People should only play or coach at WVU if that is where they really want to be.

Of course, I don't know how they plan to field an entire 11 man team under those conditions.

There is a lot of anti RR feeling in WV but I don't see them doing anything. the university powers that be want him to stay. I think because it is really hard to find a better than average coach as we know.

Remind you of anyone else?

West Virginia athletic director Ed Pastilong said on Saturday afternoon he's met twice with Rich Rodriguez over the football coach's involvement with the University of Michigan.

"I met with him twice [Saturday]," Pastilong said of Rodriguez. "That's about all I can say. We talked about general issues within the football program."

Pastilong predicted "we'll know something very fast" in regard to Rodriguez's decision.
