Michigan Coaching Speculation

Why dont they hire the app st coach???Playing for the 3rd straight natl. championship:biggrin:

That guy is a pretty smart coach. We played them in '05, and his gameplan was impressive (boring as hell though).

They would let the play clock run down to 1 or 2 secs before snapping the ball, and then run the ball. They ate up time of possession, keeping our O off the field, and preventing the blowout from being as bad as was expected.

There doesn't seem to be much of a selection list, it's ask one guy one day and when he declines, ask another.

They don't even seem to be bothering with interviewing a group of candidates or even anyone in particular.....it's very haphazard and not exactly what you'd expect from "the Leaders and the Best" :roll1:

Somehow I don't think they'll be writing a How To book when describing this hiring process

It almost sounds eerily familiar. :wink2:

I'm wondering why Mike Leach isn't on a plane to Ann Arbor right now.

As an outsider I like Leach a lot -- he's got one hell of a sense of humor.

From this season after the drubbing they gave Texas A&M (note: Aggie fans absolutely cannot stand the fact that the media and public perceive Texas Tech as their rival):

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has often talked about starting a "pirate club" among Tech students, much like Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets. He again alluded to his fascination with pirates after Tech's 35-7 victory over A&M, when he was asked how his broken right arm held up during the game.

"We're going to cut it off and put a hook on it," said Leach, whose arm was wrapped in a sling after he broke it in a bicycle accident two weeks ago. "Women sometimes have a lot of cosmetic surgery, but men can, too. So maybe I will as well."

Leach ridiculed A&M's tradition as a military school in a 2005 New York Times story. In it, Leach said the A&M Corps of Cadets "get to pretend they are soldiers. The thing is, they aren't actually in the military." And he also stated, "I ought to have Mike's Pirate School. The freshmen, all they get is the bandana. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work on pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."
That's just hysterical. Wouldn't fly in AA though. There's actually a pretty significant list of behavior that would constitute an instant turn-off.

Plus, his over-the-top criticism of Big XII officiating recently netted him a $10,000 fine. I'm pretty confident such liabilities would negate any consideration from the powers that be.
