Michael Jackson dies after cardiac arrest

Hell, I don't even like the Beatles, but I agree wholeheartedly.

Kurt Cobain ranks up there as does Cliff Burton

Im sorry but did you just compare Kurt Cobain to John LENNON?

A HA HA HA HA HA!! *snurf* HA HA HA HA!!! Oh man, it was a bad Friday, I truly needed that. Thanks!

On topic, his early music is well worth respect.

Having said that, he didn't do SHIT WORTH MENTIONING, musically, since 1991 at best. Any sales after that were hardcore fans not because the crap was worth listening to.

And there is, simply, ZERO excuse for child abuse of any kind and anyone who sexually abuses a child deserves bloody, painful death in slow fire. Even if only half of what he was accused of was true
(just trying to be generous in my sweeping statement), he got off easy.

:pissed:

No one mourns for him in my house.

Interesting hearing CNN interview Brits about his death. They seem more upset than Americans. Like his many peccadillos didn't even happen.
Would could have been one of, if not the greatest musical legacy's ever, tarnished by irresponsible, even perverted actions. Did the money create a monster? Or just facilitate it?

He's been more popular overseas than here since high school and college kids started listening to heavy metal instead of pop music in the late 80's (followed by grunge in the early 90's).

Interesting to me is if you look at a decade, 2 or 3 bands are synonymous with the movements of that decade. In the 80s for me that was Michael Jackson and Metallica, who really led the heavy metal revolution of the middle and later part of the decade. Metallica is still relevant over 20 years later, still sell out shows, had big runs in the 90s, and have a Guitar Hero game, which doesn't sound like much until you consider how long they've been around (most college kids today weren't even born yet when they hit it big) and how completely dead metal now is. Jackson, not so much. I mean, think about it...before he died, when was the last time anyone actually heard a Michael Jackson song on the radio? I listen an hour a day in the car to multiple stations, and it's been years for me (not talking Jackson 5 now, I still hear them a lot, I'm talking him by himself). They said he also hadn't performed a solo concert since like 1992 or something. Just never had the staying power...and I remember the Jackson backlash, and it happened way before he was accused of what he was accused of.

That's fine by me...I just don't like it when people derive joy from a person's death while simultaneously holding on to the belief that they don't see celebrities in a different light than normal people.

Not sure if you're talking about BP or not.. but the joy that people are getting from Jackson's death probably wouldn't be as apparent if he weren't a pedophile. It's a big story because he's a celebrity, the world is better off now because he was a pedophile/general creepy dude-thing. I'm willing to bet that if someone posted a story about the average pedo dying that people would be cracking jokes at his expense.

Yes he was a pedophile/creepy dude thing, I know. I'm not asking people to mourn for him or even care. But it's kind of a creepy dude thingy to do to be joyous over someone's death. Regardless of what kind of crap he was; he has a family and kids just like all of us. His kids especially; I wouldn't wish this on them regardless of how wacked out he was.

I understand that.

Serious question - might sound ridiculous. Do you think his kids are going to be better off without him? Sucks when a parent dies obviously, but this dude was a pedophile and really odd creature. I feel for his family and those who loved him.. but not him.

I get you... and they might be. But if you gave me the choice to be happy with my father dead or miserable with my father alive I'd be miserable every damn day of my life. I'll tell you one thing; they will be better off without the circus that surrounded him. Everyone is judgemental. It's human nature. I'm judgemental towards the actions perpetrated and the lies produced to cover them up. But I'm not God. Final Judgement, in my mind, is His decision alone. No one here has done so...but I've heard others say "I hope he burns in Hell" and the like. That is the line that I wash my hands of.
