Anybody else watching the 30 for 30 film on ESPN that followed the Heisman presentation? I think it's pretty bad. They're trying to make it sound like Miami was the only college football team that had black players, and that by recruiting any black players you're always gonna get jackasses, thugs and degenerates. Alot of these players they interviewed are showing they're still jackasses 20-25 years later.

Some of the things Lamar Thomas has said on the show are unbelievable. Wasn't Thomas the announcer that got fired for making comments during the UM-FIU brawl a couple of years ago?

Yep

"Now, that's what I'm talking about," Thomas said as the brawl raged out of control. "You come into our house, you should get your behind kicked. You don't come into the OB playing that stuff. You're across the ocean over there. You're across the city. You can't come over to our place talking noise like that. You'll get your butt beat. I was about to go down the elevator to get in that thing."

The only redeeming quality of this ESPiN rag to me is just that...that they have proven they are still the same assholes they always were, and that they were in fact assholes. Then they whine about the rap they got, the bad press, all that...whatever. Stupid is as stupid does.

That show made me want to walk up to Andy Geiger's house and thank him for hiring Jim Tressel.

I just finished watching this self absorbed piece of crap that was the University of Miami football back in the day. It reminded me why I despised the 'Canes then and why we should kick their asses in a couple of years.....
The film said Randy Shannon, then an assistant coach, now then head coach, know about the payments the players were taking. The current administration obviously knew that before they made him the head coach....:(
The "U" as in Unnecessary celebration, gaUdy, and ThUg.....

Thank God for JT.....

:slappy: The movie ended with...

  • In 2001 Butch Davis left with the Hurricanes #2 in the rankings.
  • Larry Coker won the NC the next year.
  • In 2008, the Orange Bowl was torn down.
Forget something in there guys? :slappy:

Here lie the University of Miami Hurricanes
Born Jan 1, 1983 - Orange Bowl, Miami FL
Died Jan 3, 2003 - Fiesta Bowl, Tempe AZ

Murdered by a quiet man in a sweater vest and 85 young men in silver, witnessed live by 85,000 members of the Buckeye Nation. :oh:

I actually enjoyed it. Some of the former players are still idiots, but even Mike Irvin stated that players wanted to blame everyone but themselves for the way they were perceived and how that motivated them.

For a cheap documentary, I liked it.

Only watched bits and pieces of it. What I saw was a piece of apologist fluff. Turned it off when these borderline illiterates were given free shots, with no rebuttal, to trash the President who at the time apparently tried to reign in the madness.

Anyone know if they talked about the Pell Grant scandal, where the university fraudulently got full scholarship athletes Pell Grant money so they'd have spending money to roll out on the town?

Miami Hurricanes, Switzer's Oklahoma teams and Tarkanian UNLV teams are the absolute lowest scum of collegiate athletics.
