Calm down chief.........I dont like the new stuff at all, but I am honestly just sayin that stuff to get under your skin

I guess those Metallica fans of old can never relive the day when MOP, Ride, Kill Em All will never be again. I like the new stuf, which to each it's own. You stay with your growl music and I'll stay true to metal.

I never thought I'd say this again but a fucking Masterpiece was once again written by Metallica.

Slipknot couldn't wipe there ass if it wasn't for the Kings of metal.

James Hetfield, Kirk best guitar duo in Metal. Rob Tre-he-oo kick ass bass, Lars, No More tin cans.

Down is awesome. Dont care for Superjoint, but Down is amazing. Blues Metal. Never thought it was possible. Now you do like Pantera, correct? Phil growls and screams all the time. How is that different?
I have seen Pantera 5 times. Newport Music Hall on the CFH tour with
Suicidal Tendencies when Robert Trujillo was the bass player.
CFH and Vulgar Display of Power was not growl music. Now after those 2 excellent cd's I think Phil went down hill with Heroin and lost his singing skills due to being strung out and not being able to sing period.

Actually I would call what Phil did on half of CFH and Vulgar, growling. In fact on the new Slipknot, alot of the vocals sound somewhat like that, kind of a gravelly singing.

Also, since you love the good vocals so much, go back and listen to Kill Em All and listen to how horrible the vocals were on it and RTL.

On my first listen of the new cd (about a 1/3 through it). Not bad so far. James' voice isn't as good as it used to be, but this sounds better than anything they have released in years. Almost a return to "..And Justice For All". Not a fan of the black album either FWIW...

Ok I will say that the first song is good. I always forget that the singles they release are very rarely the good songs on the cd. I will give it a chance and post comments

Second song is good too.

A good friend of mine got me a copy of the cd from the net. But I will still buy Death Magnetic and from what I have jammed on so far sounds really good.
Metallica is back

First 3 songs are good, then I get to the day that never comes, and it is such crap........at least they release the shitty songs as singles, so I am happy when I actually hear the cd

Edit: So far all the songs are good cept for the damn singles they released. that's funny.

My review after one listen. Overall, not bad at all. Way better than their last few "efforts". Hetfield's vocals are definitely weaker. The rest of the band can still rock.

That Was Just Your Life - 8/10
The End of the Line - 9/10 - best song on the album IMO
Broken, Beat & Scarred - 8/10
The Day That Never Comes - 2/10 - agree with BM, this song sucks
All Nightmare Long - 8/10
Cyanide - 7/10
The Unforgiven III - 3/10 - seriously, enough with "The Unforgiven" rip offs!
The Judas Kiss - 8/10
Suicide & Redemption - 6/10 - long instrumental
My Apocalypse - 6/10 - song is alright, but I don't care for the chorus
