incoming recruit Hill cheated and snuck in a 5th year in HS. Not Kelly's fault but it adds to the drama.

I don't think Oregon = thugs or that Kelly is a bad guy. I do think that Kelly undermining his own punishment with Blount hurts his credibility when he punishes someone, especially for a year.
Masoli had a history when he arrived at UO. Given Holland's comments, it would seem some on their squad find the discipline to be rather inconsistent. Blount was also suspended temporarily in the spring before the boise state meltdown & suspension.

Then he should be suspended indefinitely, not for a year. That was a big problem as well.
He's been at Oregon since 2007 as the OC, then the HC for 09.
He recruited 08 juco Blount, 08 juco Masoli, 09 James.
He accepted a transfer (from USC) from 06 WR Jamere Holland - who apparently was dismissed from USC, so perhaps that explains the quick dismissal over the facebook post.
Alonso & Kaddu were 08 LB recruits while he was the OC, so he wasn't directly involved there.
08 K Rob Beard is anyone's guess.

Just to clarify where I was coming from: even if an Ohio State Coach other than Coach Tressel recruited an athlete, it's on Coach Tressel's shoulders IF the athlete does something improper. Thus, when I'm talking about Chip Kelly, he wasn't the Head Coach when these kids came into the program. I place some of the blame on Belotti.

Blount committed about a month after Chip's first regular season as the OC at Oregon. Masoli committed much earlier but Kelly was the OC at the time. I don't know who the point man was on their recruitments, but the OC is going to have a big say in who they recruit at the QB & RB position.
Chip Kelly was the point man on LaMichael James.
