Marquette at Ohio State Friday 11/9 7pm. NBCS

Bob Baptist ‏@BBaptistHoops
RT @MissyPfaltzgraf: @BBaptistHoops You would've thought there was a back-up plan. / There was. Citadel. But not on this late notice

there....there was a backup plan, but because the issue arose right before tipoff, there was no way they coulda done it, which is what i said earlier, no way logistically they could move it

I don't get why they don't just plan on playing the game at The Citadel tomorrow. They tried the carrier, it didn't work. So move the game to a different location in the same city where you practiced already, the place that was your "back up plan." You say you're doing this for the troops, for all the things they sacrifice, but you can't sacrifice a travel day since you have a games Sunday against Cupcake City? This is the worst fiasco with OSU basketball in a long time.

The Citadel at 12 probably would have worked. I think they would be fine for Albany at 2 Sunday.

My son works for the Charleston AFB and lives in summerville. He said it's going to be pretty cold to be playing a game like that. Is that going to
be an issue for those guys?

Well i guess it was after all huh. Now i wonder if the Florida / Georgetown game on the USS Batann will have the same effect with condensation. It is known warm weather over cold air will produce condensation but it may not be a factor for the game in Mayport.

Clearly we disagree. I think it's embarrassing to say you're doing something for the troops for all that they sacrifice, and then not make any unexpected or inconvenient sacrifices in order to follow through on your promise.

I find fault in the leadership by them being unwilling to and/or lacking the foresight to make adequate alternative plans in the case of inclement weather. The fact that the coaches were saying they were playing this game to pay respect for the sacrifices of the military does make "abandoning ship" at the first sign of adversity seem hypocritical in my book. I'm not saying they should risk player safety and stay on the carrier, just do something else in order to give them the game you promised. Maybe they had no choice but to go home due to inadequate planning, but someone is to blame for that. I don't think the right thing was to abandon the idea of playing the game and go home. It's not like you couldn't foresee weather problems occurring outside on an aircraft carrier.

There were clearly too many combo guards on the carrier.

Seriously, let it go. How were they supposed to move several thousand people and cameras and crew etc. and restage the game? The right call was made. The Citadel just happens to have their home opener tomorrow so that venue wouldn't be available.

Didn't the MSU/Duke game last year have a court on the flight deck and then one in the hangar below deck in case of weather? Maybe they'll move to having them in the hangar of the ship instead of chancing the weather outside if they do this again.
