Bill Lucas;2252920; said:How were they supposed to move several thousand people and cameras and crew etc. and restage the game? The right call was made. The Citadel just happens to have their home opener tomorrow so that venue wouldn't be available.
DZ83CK;2252977; said:You know they could still have played tomorrow if they had planned properly. The Citadel doesn't have their home game for the whole day anyway, 4:00 PM is late enough a 12 PM start probably would've worked if they didn't have any other events. But it doesn't really matter when The Citadel is supposed to play, it all goes back to planning. You figure these things out and have a back-up plan in place beforehand so you don't have to set something up at the last minute. I don't know if this is a case to blame Gene Smith for not doing due diligence about the weather or someone else, but clearly a serious risk was not considered. This was a disaster.

She looked better on film though. Probably still a bitch. But yuppp. (sorry recently engaged so don't mind my female hatred.)

Mike80;2252980; said:But they DID have a backup plan. It's just that when the game happens to be called right as it is going to begin, the logistics of a move like that is a nightmare and even if they wanted to move the game to tomorrow, both schools said no to the idea anyway so it's a moot point.

I am not British and I think the word should be spelled that way as canceled looks [censored]ing retarded. Why is that word only spelled with one L if words like excelled or repelled have double Ls. Besides it doesn't even matter, I was just looking for an excuse to make fun of espn. You ruined that MaxBuck thanks bro. ;-)
DZ83CK;2253049; said:Clearly the back-up plan they had was extremely inadequate. It all goes back to poor planning. First to not realize that condensation could be a problem, and second to not have any back-up plan after the women's game started. I don't even care if the game was televised for the general public, it was supposed to be for the troops. If you plan these things out in advance, you could be sure that The Citadel doesn't have any conflicts.
Actually, they should be commended. They stopped it before anyone got hurt. It sucks that they won't get to play the game, but that's how the cookie crumbles. Get over it already - trust me Matta has and so has his team.Bill, why don't you do me a favor and only criticize me for calling AC a combo after games that he doesn't play the 2 after. The exhibition (and some games last year such as the UC Sweet 16 game) saw significant minutes where Shannon played PG with AC at the 2. Who hasn't let it go? I haven't mentioned it for a year until now, you're holding on to it. Like it or not, the Carrier Classic failure does deserve criticism.
Backup plans are only feasible if you know in advance that the first option won't work. Not only was the weather perfect but they played a game without a hitch.Clearly the back-up plan they had was extremely inadequate.

You can't move a game at 7 pm or even 6:15 pm. It takes a long time to set all of that up.
