Yeah, I wouldn't get TOO worried about the Rose Bowl, I'll be happy if we can find a way to split the Big Ten championship and make a BCS game.

Technically Sparty wouldn't HAVE to lose twice for us to make the Rose Bowl, as long as Wiscy lost again (of course Sparty would have to lose once). I think we'll have more favor in the BCS standings over a 1 loss Sparty.

I think if it's a tie, the team that went to the Rose Bowl more recently loses... meaning MSU would get the nod. BCS rankings won't matter for the Rose, as long as it's Pac 10 vs Big 10.

As I said on page one, Sparty and Wiscy both go to Iowa City. If the Hawkeyes win both games then we beat Iowa, we'll move ahead of all three of them given our record and the timing of the wins.

Things are definitely going to get crazy in the BCS again this year. Believe it. LSU and Auburn undefeated? Except they play each other next week. Then they both have to play 'Bama. If one of them somehow pulls off what I believe would be a miracle to go undefeated, they have the SEC Championship to look forward to. Oregon has a tough schedule coming up as well.

Prepare for insanity.

That is an old rule, nothing about previous berths apply. It comes down to head to head tiebreakers and BCS standings as a last resort.

For the past 3 weeks I've been charting the undefeated teams (Didn't want to start too early and skew percentages)

Going into the first week (the week we played Illinois) There were 25 undefeated teams. After that weekend we were left with 18 (28% lost)

After the following weekend we dropped to 13 teams (again 28% lost)

After yesterday we are left with 10 undefeated teams, which meant that only 23% of the remaining teams had lost, however I expect the percentage to go back up next week because we have the 2 head to head undefeated matchups, OU vs Mizzou and LSU-Auburn..plus we have a tough matchup for Ok State going up against Nebraska.

What I'm saying is, it's a LONG season and the undefeated have been dropping like flies..you never know what can happen.

Here's the clusterfuck of my dreams.

If Auburn or LSU pull off the miracle gauntlet in the SEC West and go undefeated into the SEC Championship Game imagine what would happen if they lose to a 2 (maybe 3 at this rate) loss East team by a TD or less. Then imagine that Oklahoma goes undefeated here-on-out up until the BigX(II) Championship Game and loses to a 1 loss Nebraska by a TD or less. THEN imagine that Oregon State wins out (including a win over #2 and undefeated Oregon in the Civil War). THEN imagine that the only game either TCU or Utah lose is to the other and that Boise State finishes the season undefeated. While all this is happening Ohio State and Wisconsin win out and Sparty wins every game except Iowa.

In this scenario you have this bunch trying to get into BCS bowls (in order or probable BCS rank):

01. Undefeated Boise State*
02. Undefeated TCU or 1 loss Auburn v. LSU winner
03. 1 loss Auburn v. LSU winner or 1 loss BigX(II) Champion (Nebraska)
04. 1 loss BigX(II) Champion (Nebraska) or 1 loss Oklahoma
05. 1 loss Oklahoma or Undefeated Utah
06. 1 loss Auburn v. LSU loser
07. 1 loss BigTen champion (Ohio State by head-to-head)
08. 1 loss Oregon
09. 1 loss Iowa
10. 1 loss Michigan State
11. SEC Champion (at very least a 2 loss team (South Carolina/Florida/Georgia?))
12. 1 loss TCU/Utah loser
??. ACC Champion (most likely a 1 or 2 loss Florida State)
??. Big East Champion (most likely a 2 loss team (who the fuck knows?))
??. Pac-10 Champion (Oregon State by head-to-head)

Italicized = Auto-bids

15 (at least) teams trying to fit into 10 spots.

All this would require are these 8* teams winning out and the outcomes between them to be:

Nebraska over Oklahoma (CCG)
SEC East over Auburn/LSU (CCG)
Ohio State over Iowa (Defacto CCG)
Oregon State over Oregon (Defacto CCG)

*Boise State is probably not going to lose, but it's probably sweeter if they do.

I don't think that's too much to ask.

I would think that most of America could give less than a shit about a matchup such as Boise vs. TCU. They want a David vs. Goliath....not a David vs. David. Matching them up against each other last year in a BCS bowl rendered the game irrelevant to most, and I hope that they don't make the same mistake on the biggest of stages. I want to see them match a Boise vs. The SEC's best, and/or TCU vs. Big 12/10/PAC 10's best. That way, we can end the speculation once and for all. I know, Oklahoma lost to Boise...but that was back when Boise was still under the radar. I would think there would be a better focus by an Oklahoma if they meet in a Bowl game again. Boise and TCU fans are going to travel, regardless. But, I don't see a big TV interest for two nonBCS auto qual. Conferences facing each other. All just my opinion, of course.

Biggest mistake of the bowl season. By giving "them" (non-qualifiers) their own game, they missed the opportunity to have both teams up against major powers.

What if the bowls last year looked like this:

Bama/Texas
Ohio State/Oregon
Florida/Boise State
TCU/Iowa
UC/Georgia

I don't think we're having this conversation about the Broncos or the Frogs...
