Looking forward to the UT-tOSU game! (long)

I am very much against a night game. One of the reasons I would not want it to be a night game relate to what IronBuck said above. Drunks at a football game are not the great fans they would like to think they are. They are just drunks who cast a bad light on the University. Why someone would want to get drunk and go to an Ohio State football game is beyond me.

Get drunk after the game? Hell yes.

Besides all that, I will have a 450 mile drive back to Charlotte early Sunday morning.

Saw31 you are correct. AG made the comment that it was a problem for alums outside of central ohio to attend. A few years ago when they played Wyoming at night, my brother could not attend because of the ending time and commute back to the Cincinnati area. Would have been close to 1:00 (game ending by 11:00) or later by the time he would get home. Cleveland and Youngstown areas would have been even longer.

Go through the parking lot and see all the cars from outside the central ohio area that come in. A night game makes it hard on the alums to come and get home safely (let alone all the drunks). People here in central ohio forget how many alums come from across the state to come to these games. Not counting the numbers of alums/fans from outside the state. That is why they like for 12:00 or 1:00 kickoffs.

Now saying all that. It would be electric if they had that game at night. Texas would not know what they were getting themselves into. It would be the closest thing to a scUM game as far as environment and how hyped the crowd would be. Much like the Notre Dame game back in the 90's.

There is now a 100% chance (up from 99.9%) that I will drive my happy ass the 1246 miles to see this whopper unfold before my eyes.
EH, let me show you something pretty cool:

This will all depend on Geiger. He has always had one night game every other year, and probably was looking to have Texas be that game this season. Problem is, he is stepping down, and Holebrook is a dirty little cunt that only wants to ruin football, so there's no way she'll go for it.

About a year ago I talked to a former Wyoming player who played in the night game versus Wyoming back in '97. He said he had never experienced anything like that. He also said that the hardest hit he ever took in his football career occured that night courtesy of Andy Katzenmoyer.

Mili made the comment that this will be a 1st ever meeting with the Longhorns. That is really surprising to me because of all the OOC games that we played with alot of the teams coming from the state of Texas. I know we have played schools like SMU, Tex A&M, Rice, and many others. I always wondered why UT waited so long to schedule us. Where they afraid then?

I would like to see something on this other than Internet rumors - which have hit at least four boards now.

I have been at every night game played in the Shoe and OSU has never lost a home night game.

A few things....

1985: Ohio State 10 - Pittsburgh 7
1993: Ohio State 21 - Washington 12
1997: Ohio State 24 - Wyoming 10
1999: Ohio State 42 - UCLA 20
2001: Ohio State 38 - Northwestern 20
2003: Ohio State 28 - Washington 9

After seeing this, my feelings can best be described by this little bastard right here: :(

BuckeyeNation- I laughed. But that there flyin' machine is pretty expensive. I am a financially challenged grad student right now. Unless the facility I work for raises the stipend for graduate research assistants, I'm SOL.

I'm kinda torn now. On one hand, the atmosphere will be that much better at night. On the other, this matchup is already tough enough. Oh well, it'll just make it that much sweeter when we wi........ :wink2:

I knew night games were rare, but wow.... only 6 in the history of the Shoe? Strange, we have night games in Austin 2-3 times a year. So it's not the big deal for us as it is for you folks. We also have the problem with the drunkenness. Seems like every other person in the student section has his/her own pint of whiskey.

Either way, it should be an awesome atmosphere.

Alcohol is the main reason for both night games being rare and for the night atmosphere being so electric. People have all day to get "primed" for the 8:00 pm kickoff. And with the latest renovations to The Shoe bringing the stand right on top of the field, The Shoe at night may just be the toughest college venue in the country.
