A poster over on the ozone posted that Tressel said at the Marion Rotary today that the Texas game was going to be a night game. A second poster confirmed it saying they were there too.
For what it's worth, I was the "second poster" mentioned above. :) Tress did say it would be a night game, "a prime time game". I do not know if he said that with confidence that it WOULD be made a night game, or if he was certain it already was, but I can confirm that our head coach did specifically make the point that it was a night game.

I know that's not enough proof for some, and that's ok! I only wish I had audio of him saying it to share with you folks.

I'd be willing the bet that this will be a night game. I've been to the last 2 night games in the Shoe, and let me tell you.....it takes on another dimension during a night game. Kind of that electric feeling that is felt before a Michigan (maybe not that much) game, or a very good in conference battle. Given the fact that these two squads will be ranked so high next year, and with the list of stars coming in to play, this will be a fucking awesome game, and will most likely be played at night.

If this is played at night, the odds of Texas winning drops from 1 in 5 to about 1 in 10. The Shoe at night is a magical place....I'm serious when I say that.

Actually if you look at our past opponents, not only did we beat them at night, but we started a downward spiral for their season. Washington was ranked very high coming in, and dropped like rock after. Northwestern was ranked in the top 15, and dropped very fast.

The Horseshoe, where visiting teams' National Championship hopes and opposing heisman candidates campaigns come to die.

Saw this in the Dispatch today:

Ohio State’s much-anticipated first meeting with Texas on Sept. 10 is almost certainly going to be moved to an evening kickoff to accommodate national television coverage, a source close to the OSU program said yesterday. ABC hasn’t made an official announcement, but the source said officials at Ohio State and Texas have agreed to the move.

and guess what guys I got tickets!!! I'm pumped for this game, and 237 days couldn't go by any slower right now! I've heard numerous times though that this will be a night game. So I hope it sticks because that'd give me and my buddy a chance to see game day, drink, then go to the game!

durning the basketball game on ESPN the announcers just stated it as fact that the game would be a night game...

Kinda sucks for me, I am getting married on that day, and I was planning on a 12 noon start, since we are planning a late afternoon wedding...

No offense bro, but you should have known it was, at a minimum, going to be 3:30 kick.

Sorry pal... maybe you can catch the game at the reception... are your relatives mostly buck fans? They'd be understanding I think. Either that or record the game and watch it at some point on your honeymoon.

Jim Tressel states it as fact several days earlier, and we question...then ESPN states it as fact and everyone believes. When will we learn?

I jest, of course!!! (But when do we believe ESPN anyway? )

DC: Maybe the new Mrs. will go for a 50" plasma next to the cake at the reception? Or a few 20" sets scattered amongst inlaws and outlaws.

In a Scarlet and Gray spirit, can you imagine the Minister calling out, "Holy Buckeye, now I pronounce you Man and Wife."

You got me, I've been lazy. :wink2:

I'm going with a group of 4 others, so the gas and hotel costs won't be too bad. But you're exactly right, I would much, much rather fly. Not looking forward to that many hours on the road.

Priceline is a good suggestion, I'll try that out.

Just curious, but what car meet are you talking about?
I used to drive home every year from Tucson. What a pain in the ass. Kind of neat that you can take I10-I20-I30-I40 and wind up in Kentucky but Route 66 was much nicer. Once I drove West to East through Kansas following the Sante Fe Trail and I thought I would loose my mind. No more, only flying from now on. If you really want a college slumming trip how about camping at Griggs reservoir? You can camp 10 minutes away from the stadium. Just turn on Lane Avenue and you're there.

I think I have my tickets and accommodations set for Austin in 06 from my ex-cubemate. I can't wait.

Night game would be cool!

Night game would be way cool! Under the lights, national audience, crowd all jacked up! FYI, I was at the 99 Meadow Lands Kickoff Classic, too! What a disaster. I was screaming at a db, I think it was Plummer? to turn around and pick off those damn under thrown passes to Santana Moss!

it's a tough one, it is our 6 year aniversary, and she set her heart on it... i guess there *might* be things more important... I guess that is what tivo is for
Ohhhh, yeah, your pretty much SOL on that one.
Although, with kickoff late, maybe you could talk her into bumping the time up?
Then again, even an "early afternoon" time should give you plenty of time to still see the game.
Just get some TVs for the reception or something, I can only assume your not
going to be the only buckeye fan at that wedding!

Fortunately for you the bucks are gonna roll thru this game. I'd be more worried about missing the Iowa or UM games, as those pose more of a challenge. The 1-dimensional, 1-person Tejas offense is gonna get dismantled. Buckeye fans are gonna be even louder and more ruthless in their cheers after getting wasted all day long. And Vince Young's promising heisman campaign will get dismantled just like all of the Klingsbury's, Johnson's, Dorsey's and McGahee's were.
