Looking forward to the UT-tOSU game! (long)

Notice only that only one of those games is Big Ten. Most Non Conf games are played before the students come back for Fall. That doesn't prevent alcohol from being a problem, but it slows it some.

Ohio Stadium night games (6-0):

1985: Ohio State 10 - Pittsburgh 7
1993: Ohio State 21 - Washington 12
1997: Ohio State 24 - Wyoming 10
1999: Ohio State 42 - UCLA 20
2001: Ohio State 38 - Northwestern 20
2003: Ohio State 28 - Washington 9
Meh, half of those games were against Pathetic-10 teams. What, did negotiations with Columbus Middle School fall through?

Thmops - you taking to talking trash? :)

For the record, when we played them:

Washington in 1993 was #12.
UCLA in 1999 was #14
Washington in 2002 was #17

Of course, that was BEFORE we played them.

I was at the 99 UCLA game. It was great. I remember some pass that was deflected 2-3 times and a UCLA player ran all the way down the field and scored and we thought "oh boy this could get ugly" but the Buckeyes showed whose boss.

EHorn, as a good engineering student, I know you can do a cost/benefit analysis. Once you add up the gas, food and hotel from the road trip, plus the hours of your time that you could be partying at OSU instead of driving through Missouri, I think you'll see that big ol' jet airliner makes a whole lot of sense. Priceline.com is your friend.

I do the drive down to Houston from Columbus every year for a car meet, and I'll tell you -- if there was any other way to get my car down there, I'd do it. The drive just sucks. I was going to drive down to the Alamo Bowl, but some sense got knocked into me at the last minute and I flew.

Either way, enjoy your stay in our fine city and enjoy the game (just not too much  ). I'll be down in Austin for the return game in '06 and I'm flying!

A night home game would be very cool. It would also beat having to leave at midnight and drive all night and still miss the pre-game fun. Not that it isn't a thrill to get to a game any way you get there! Now, I just need TICKETS...

Obsess much?

Yes. You made a comment and I responded. I must be out of my mind.

BTW, there was a Coug fan looking for you a few weeks ago.

Excellent. Maybe we can talk about how awesome Jason Gesser will be after Norm Chow takes over the Titans offense. Maybe Chow can bring in Ryan Leaf as his backup and the supreme power of the Pac-10 will finally conquer the NFL.

Alcohol is the main reason for both night games being rare and for the night atmosphere being so electric. People have all day to get "primed" for the 8:00 pm kickoff. And with the latest renovations to The Shoe bringing the stand right on top of the field, The Shoe at night may just be the toughest college venue in the country.
The weather is also a limiting factor for night games. One of the reasons these games are almost always non-conference foes is around the time the B10 season starts, the weather has changed. I'm not talking freezing weather, but in October, the daytime games would be played in the 55-70 degree range and might have sun. At night you might see 35-55 degrees, no sun and possible wind. By November the nighttime conditions could be very unpleasant for fans and we have to keep those turnstiles going right?

Good point. The timeframe of the Texas game would be perfect for a night game.

You got me, I've been lazy. :wink2:

I'm going with a group of 4 others, so the gas and hotel costs won't be too bad. But you're exactly right, I would much, much rather fly. Not looking forward to that many hours on the road.

Priceline is a good suggestion, I'll try that out.

Just curious, but what car meet are you talking about?

There are early indications that Ohio State’s Sept. 10 home football game against Texas will be played at night and televised by ABC.

Given the fact that the game pits two of college football’s storied programs and also two players the network can hype as Heisman Trophy frontrunners — OSU speedster Ted Ginn Jr. and Texas quarterback Vince Young — a nighttime kickoff seems like a lock
