I would've said "Welcome, EH", but I see that you've been here before. You are with literally everyone on this board in wishing that they move the game to a night start. The last true night home game we had was our 2003 opener against Washington, whom we totally throttled 28-9. The game wasn't nearly as close as the final score...the Huskies were never really in the game.
EngineerHorn had a bunch of cool things to say last time he was here.

Just to be the devils advocate, don't go talking too much trash... we did get beat by Miami in the kickoff classic in 99 at home.

I still say that we trash Texas.

One has to wonder if they don't want to mess with the look of the stadium in trade for an infrequent asset in lights.
I've always heard the reasoning was to actually discourage scheduling night games for two reasons. It changes the whole weekend travel for out of town alums and it keeps the night games very special when they do schedule one. Someone else will know, but I think I read quotes from AG basically pointing to this as the rationale for not adding the lights during the renovation.

I would think that a night game declared by the new AD, whomever that might be, would spark their popularity with the die hard fans as well as alumni under 50. I didn't see any problem with the travel after the night games but I was only two hours away. Makes sense to me for the people to start their tailgating at about 12:00 instead of 6:00 am and stay the night of the game in Cbus instead of the night before.

More than likely, a decision on this would need to be made before Geiger steps down. Additionally, a quick Google search shows that after the most recent night game two seasons ago, Geiger alluded that this might be a possibility. Also he affirmed Saw's point about why night games are so rare at Ohio State...

http://www.centralohio.com/ohiostate/stories/20030902/football/177163.html

UNDER THE LIGHTS: It was the sixth night game at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes had won the first five.

Ohio State athletics director Andy Geiger said he didn't mind having one night game at home each season but wouldn't want to make it a regular occurrence.

"I like it as a rare event," Geiger said. "There are people who have been coming to these games for years and years and years and years. And the crowd we get is not necessarily from Columbus, Ohio. They come from all corners of the state, all over the region. And they don't want to be forced into (having to get) hotel rooms. They don't want to be getting home at 3 o'clock in the morning on a regular basis."

Geiger said he felt games should be on Saturdays -- avoiding the trend to play on Friday night or other evenings -- and preferably in early afternoon.

"As we progress through the year, noon or 3:30 is where we should be starting," he said. "But with the Labor Day weekend, with Sunday and Monday off and as a special national telecast and stuff like that, I don't think it's that bad."

It's not as if Ohio State won't be playing more night games at Ohio Stadium, Geiger said.

"USC and Texas and schools like that are on the schedule," he said. "People are going to ask us to play at night." The Buckeyes host USC in 2009 and Texas in 2005. .

i do not see a night game there...i see some late fall 330 kicks, no night games there.
Well, the UCLA 1998 looks like it has the temporary lights. I also assumed Script Ohio was done before the game too. The dates are different from above though. I don't know. Maybe that picture is labeled wrong.

My two cents are. A night game would be bad for ME, and that's really what it's all about. I was so drunk for the Washington game, that I don't remember anything past the first quarter. It's a good thing that the game was officially over after the first quarter, but I think that it will take at least three quarters to put this game away. Probably more. I really don't think that I could stay coherent long enough to get the most out of this game, if it were held at night. And, Like I said. It's all about me.
