London Olympics: "We're pretty much ready..."

Or....one big mistake > 3 small mistakes. It seems pretty damned arbitrary either way.

I would think something like comparing head-to-head in each of the events would be a better indicator. Reisman was better than Mustafina in 3 of 4 events, but the Mustafina was a LOT better at bars so she gets the bronze.

Random.

They should just give out 2 bronzes. Problem solved.

Congrats to Kayla Harrison. There are great individual stories across the games, but her's put a lump in my throat. It's clear that this competition and gold medal meant more to her than most. Read up on her if you haven't done so.

re: Women's Gymnastics... what the fuck is the point of having a tiebreaker for 3rd place? It's not like this was a head-to-head competition. There was a tie for bronze in Harrison's division in judo - they gave one to both 3rd place finishers. I guess they felt that the standards of their sport weren't arbitrary enough - they had to add an additional layer. Just another reason to say - while gymnastics requires tremendous feats of athleticism, it is not a sport. It's arts & crafts.

Sometimes it seems like NBC is trying to screw up their Primetime coverage (or give away the outcome to people who avoided knowing taped results).

I already knew the outcome, but some people don't.

Wife was commenting that a "TODAY" commercial Thursday had one competitor on Friday morning who was in a head-to-head but not the other (i.e. Lochte/Phelps or Douglas/Raisman).

Obviously, the person on the show won the head-to-head.
