Tianna Madison was on the gold-medal winning 4x100-meter team in London.

The Ohio parents of Olympic gold medalist Tianna Madison have sued her, saying she spread stories they had been selfish and bullying and cheated her financially.
Elyria residents Robert and Jo Ann Madison filed the libel, slander and defamation lawsuit Thursday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in Cleveland. They say they've been loving, supportive and generous parents.
Tianna Madison was on the winning 4x100-meter relay track team at the Summer Olympics in London. She won the gold with Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight and Carmelita Jeter in world record time. The lawsuit also names her husband, John Bartoletta.

The parents' lawsuit seeks more than $25,000 each in compensatory and punitive damages.

So by suing her they have proved her right. Good luck with that lawsuit.

From a serious standpoint, this is an incredibly frivolous lawsuit. Not only are libel, slander, and defamation really tough to prove. On top of that I highly doubt there was any loss of money from those things even if they were true. So the vast majority of the claim is punitive, which is also very tough to get. This lawsuit has stupid written all over it. I really wish the US would start having some sort of deterrent to frivolous lawsuits. Too many lawyers in this country desperate enough to take crap cases like this in hopes of any sort of payday.

That figure jumped out at me, where have I seen that before... oh, now I remember. That is the same amount that the USOC awarded each of the US gold medalists in the London Olympics. So they each want the same amount of money that Madison won ($50K total), yet they say they are 'loving and generous parents'... something is wrong with this picture.

No kidding. I think that $50k was taxed, so they want their daughter to throw in some cash out of her own pocket as well.

the USOC paid $25K per gold. The way I read the article is each parent is wanting $25K from her, which is why I said $50K... they want her to pay them quite a bit more than just the USOC reward.
