NBC commentator's "uh oh" moments

1. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw
her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing."

2. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from
personal experience since I once mounted her mother."

3. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother
and father."

4. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths
in boxing, but none of them really that serious."

5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can
expect the same thing again."

6. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn't
like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces."

7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the
IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew."

8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've
got eleven Dicks on the field."

9. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is
that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses
them...Oh my God, what have I just said?"

I guess this is 20-20 hindsight, but how come.......I thought OSU synchro swimmers were all top drawer. I don't believe that I saw any of them, none on US team, and none mentioned on foreign olympic teams.

Synchro was not one of the 'stars' of NBC coverage, so didn't get to hear what or where the girls were from. Any perspectives?

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: PS, enjoy the pictures and the bloopers

There was one girl from Ohio State on the team (Michelle Theriault), but they failed to qualify for the Olympics.

BTW...I had do idea either. I just did a quick Google search since I am bored.

If you are truly bored there are ways to slow down those searches.

Usain Bolt may try for 400 meters or long jump at 2016 Olympics in Rio
2016 SUMMER OLYMPICS, USAIN BOLT

At a promotional event in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Wednesday, two-time 100-meter and 200-meter Olympic champion Usain Bolt made his strongest statement yet that he will compete for more gold medals in the next Olympiad.

?Yes, definitely I will be there (in Rio), as long as I?m fit and I?m ready,? Bolt said. ?It?ll be a little bit harder but I?m looking forward to it.?

Bolt also confirmed that he is considering changing things up and entering different events four years hence.

?It?s just about making different goals ? there?s a lot of things I can do in the sport,? Bolt said. ?My coach wants me to do 400 meters, I want to try long jump. I could always try to aim for the records again, so there?s different things, but after the season we?ll decide what we want to do and work on that next season.?

With 4 years of training, he could obliterate Michael Johnson's 400m record. His long stride is perfect for the 400. But the long jump... that's a totally different animal.

I am not sure about obliterate. You do realize that Bolt's 200m in the Olympics this year tied Johnson's former WR in the 200m right? Bolt is also a much better 100m runner. So at the 200m point Johnson would have been catching Bolt this year. Bolt has not been improving for years. Still the best, but 2009 was his ultimate year. Come 2016 it's hard to think a guy, in a new event, who is at the same speed right now in the 200m as Johnson in his prime, would suddenly beat Johnson's time in the 400m. I doubt he could beat Jeremy Wariner's time. If he could just beat Wariner's time that would be a heck of a feat and possibly win gold. Johnson's 400m is off the charts incredible.

As for the long jump, I actually think he has a better chance at that. It's become a forgotten event and ignored by sprinters since it doesn't bring the money it once used to. It's well believe in the track and field community he would excel there because sprinters no longer include it in their events, and they are the best suited for it.

IIRC, didn't he used to train primarily to run the 200 & 400, and had to beg his coach or convince him that he should compete in the 100?

I don't know if he could do all three or successfully switch back, but it might be fun to see him try.
