Phelps wins the Gold, Lochte wins Silver. DOMINANT race by Phelps.

It was the same thing last Summer Games (as well as last Winter), but one thing I do miss on the live feeds on NBCOlympics.com is commentary.

This means you actually have to watch or glance at the event every so often and not just use it as background noise.

There's Australian commentary for swimming, which is nice. Wish they had that for all the sports.

Phelps becomes the first male swimmer to win the same event (200m IM) in three consecutive Olympics.

Current Medal Standings:

1) USA - 18 Gold, 9 Silver & 10 Bronze - 37 Total
2) China - 18 Gold, 11 Silver & 4 Bronze - 33 Total

Everyone else has less than 20 total medals & no more than seven Gold Medals.

Phelps is a scUMmer. That automatically invalidates this.

Phelps is a 'Merican, and the best ever at what he does. This is the Olympics, man! (Besides, Phelps didn't swim as a Wolverine since he turned pro at 16, he just trained there with Bowman; and Lochte is a Gator, so meh.)

Which is why a lot of people think the Olympics are a [censored]ing joke.

They drop the low score and then tally the total again. So screwing the pooch in one event is better than being consistent.

Or....one big mistake > 3 small mistakes. It seems pretty damned arbitrary either way.

I would think something like comparing head-to-head in each of the events would be a better indicator. Reisman was better than Mustafina in 3 of 4 events, but the Mustafina was a LOT better at bars so she gets the bronze.

Random.
