Les Miles (grass eater)

They buyout is huge. Cannot see them paying that to part with Miles.
I'd tend to agree. But the article points out that if the big $$$ boosters are willing to chip in, it might not be as large an impediment as it would appear.

That's one of those programs that think they should be in the NC hunt annually, and they have been basically spinning their wheels for a few years now. And Lester's inability to recruit a top QB is starting to chap some asses. That's the same thing that ended up burning Mack Brown in the arse.

For the record, I don't think it will happen. I think they'll win at least one of Aggie/Ol' Piss. But, if they drop them both, particularly in ugly fashion, I would not be shocked if a move is made. They have looked BAD the last two weeks, so they could drop them both.

Still, with all the openings, and lack of "quality" candidates, they would seem to be better served waiting at least until next year.

like they said ... i think its the same amount of money.. the question is ... pay it out over 4 years and keep him or pay it out over 8 years

No that's mistaken. If you pay $17 million now, you then have to pay a new staff over that same period of time. His buyout, including staff, is enormous. I'm not here to say it definitely won't happen, but it seems highly unlikely considering the buyout today and that the record isn't atrocious.

One other thing...if Lester got the pink slip...how AWESOME would he be at da U?[/QUOTE
hearing a lot of rumblings that the guy they want is running a pretty tight ship over in the ACC.

I heard that too. But is he worth a 12-15 million dollar buyout? Hell, let Les keep his job and spend a million bucks a year for a guy who only recruits QBs. Better yet, bring in Richt and let him be the OC.

When a board member publicly states winning your last two games would make things complicated ... I can only interpret that as meaning Leslie has already lost the support of the majority. Dead man walking.

Walking Dead: Will 2 wins be enough for Miles to keep his job?

OXFORD, Mississippi — LSU football coach Les Miles’ future is in danger even if the Tigers win out to end the regular season, an LSU Board of Supervisors member said on Friday.

“I think if he wins the next two games, it’s still something that needs to be looked at,” LSU Board of Supervisors member Ronald Anderson told Gannett Louisiana on Friday. “It’s the way they lost the two games.”

No. 15 LSU (7-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference), which plays at No. 22 Ole Miss (7-3, 4-2 SEC) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on CBS, lost to unranked, four-loss Arkansas by 31-14 last week and lost, 30-16, to then-No. 4 Alabama the previous week when the Tigers were 7-0 and No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Those were LSU’s first back-to-back losses by double digits since 1999 when the program was in the midst of eight losing seasons in 11 years.

“If he wins them both, that complicates it,” said Anderson, who has served on the board on and off since 1997. “That’s my opinion. It’s not just the number of losses, but the quality of the losses. The next two games are really important to deciding the future of the program. And you’ve got to look at the progress of the program from the standpoint of a number of years.”

LSU closes the regular season at home against Texas A&M (7-3, 3-3 SEC) on Nov. 28.

If true LSU is danger of becoming a toxic job. You don't run off historically good coaches cause you can do better when historically you haven't done better.
