Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Did Lebron request to have an hour-long show on ESPN?

Lebron has been pretty low-key about this whole ordeal. Unless he actually made this hour-long special.

LeBron's team contacted ESPN this afternoon about having a Thursday night special. LeBron's team then leaked the story to Chris Broussard and he was the first to report it. It was LeBron's (or his teams) idea, and they are giving proceeds from advertisement dollars to charity.

LeBron was being low-key...not much low-key about this though. What a slap in the face to Ohio if he goes somewhere else. I can't see him doing that unless he has a sick heart....

Alright then.

Pretty lame to force a special. The charity is nice, so I can't decide how to feel about it..

Bosh saying "this is a GREAT day" or whatever could mean he decided to accept a trade to the Cavs for all anyone knows. It means he could be on the verge of joining D Wade in Chicago. It could mean that he got laid four times today.

I'm as worried now as I was yesterday. I'm not sure how worried that is.

and considering the majority of folks think that if he doesn't go to cleveland he's going to the knicks. really? that would show that he has no desire to win and is only interested in promoting his brand as that cast of stiffs coached by that bafoon wouldn't make it out of the 1st round.

I honestly don't see all that many reasons not to really like Cleveland's chances but it's Cleveland so certain fans are going to start throwing tantrums regardless.
Also, the hour long press conference is clearly absurd (what the hell are they even going to do with that hour?) but is it really all that much worse than this entire process has been? It's just hard for me to summon up any more indignity at this point, now I'm just rolling my eyes and laughing. This whole thing has just been such a stupid circus, what's one more juggling bear act? If Lebron's ego is a bit out of proportion right now I can understand that, I'm not sure I've ever seen an ego stroking of this magnitude. I'm not condoning it, but I'm not all that bothered by it either. That aside, I think we all probably share the same sentiment regarding this entire process:

*cough* post #1057 *cough* post #1059 *cough*

The way I see it, it's essentially become a two-horse race. I think Bosh to Cleveland (doesn't want to go) and to Miami (no one Toronto wants) are not going to happen. That leaves Bosh to Chicago as a small possibility. So I could see LeBron going there if they can get Bosh. Otherwise, I see him staying in Cleveland. It worries me somewhat that the Cavs, as is typical, have kind of sat on their hands in terms of making a move at the draft and/or since July 1. I know they've had things in the works, but nothing has panned out yet. But I also agree with NFBuck--if he schedules this one-hour special and at the end of it announces that he's leaving Cleveland, that will be a tough pill to swallow for a lot of Cavs fans.

It was not immediately clear whether Bosh will sign with Miami outright or join the Heat through a sign-and-trade deal. Bosh could earn $125 million over six years via sign-and-trade, but only $96 million over five without it.

I have a part time teaching gig going right now myself. Depending on how it is billed for some of my work I get $11 per hour. For others I get about $30. So I know EXACTLY how he must feel.

Bosh and Wade to Miami is actually good news for the Cavs. Those are the 2 guys that could influence Lebron to leave Cleveland and if they are off the table his options are more limited. It also eliminates a destination. I think the Cavs would be championship run ready with a S&T for Haywood, Mike Miller with the MLE, and something with West/Mo/Parker to get another PG.
I don't like this whole ESPN thing tomorrow, but it will be interesting to find out the details as we get closer. I just hope Lebron knows that if he is going to skip town it's best to bring in the moving trucks silently at night rather than under the bright lights of ESPN. Most people from Cleveland/Akron/Ohio would hate him with the fire for 1,000 suns if he did something stupid like take off a #23 Cavs jersey and have a Bulls jersey on under it. I wouldn't put it past Lebron to do the jersey thing and end up in a Cavs #6 jersey. Unfortunately half the people in Cleveland would have killed themselves already.

Haywood, why does his name keep getting floated around. Did I miss something, this guy has been pretty much worthless except in a contract year, reminds me of Eric Dampier, only good when they want more money....

If i'm missing something please someone let me know, I'd love to be excited by this.

Its going to leak out before the announcement. It always does. Personally, I think its down to the Cavs and Knicks if the Bosh to Miami story is true. If some team pulls off a trade for Chris Paul, then that team immediately would become the front runner.

As far as the Bulls go, I think they needed to bring in another big time free agent to get Lebron to bail on Cleveland. Bosh was that guy. Its a team in the division so I think he would want to be pretty sure that multiples titles await before agreeing to have to return to Cleveland a few times a year.

With the Knicks, it all depends on Lebron's ego. He wouldn't be going there to win titles. He'd be bolting for bright lights. I think I would hate him more for that.

I'd be happy with bringing Shag back to come off the bench. I just want a 7 footer on the bench to put up against Howard or other true centers. We learned last year that having a Howard stopper doesn't mean anything if you don't make it to Orlando. Haywood is just the name that's been out there. Against 80% of the league Jamison, JJ, and Andy are enough at the 4 and 5.
