Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

for real, there's been a post in this thread almost every day, or every other day since "the decision." And if this thread was dying, it was brought back by whoever posted Brons tweet about taking note of who was talking ish about him.

guys posting in the thread talking ish about guys posting in the thread. that doesn't seem like the way to let it die either......LMAO. There's your pot meeting kettle, bro.

you can say "talking shit". "Talking Ish" sounds kind of gay...not that there is anything wrong with that.

I was talking about guys like Shaq jumping to LA from Orlando. Kobe demanding trades and giving up in games to show how bad his team needs him so they'll go out and get him Pau. AI wanting out of Philly, Gary Payton/Karl Malone jumping to LA, Barkley jumping to Houston...........

my point was he isn't the first and he won't be the last

This is garbage...are you really comparing Karl Malone and Gary Payton in their last years chasing a ring to a 25 year old Mrs. Wade?? Charles Barkely is the same thing and he said as much after the decesion. Charles said he stayed in Philly past his prime b/c he wanted to compete to win one on his own. He thinks 25 year olds "shouldn't have to piggyback".

Shaq is also a weak comparison. The guy was trying to start a movie career, putting out hip hop cd's, and generally wanted to be the focal point of the world. And Shaq didn't join LA when they already had one of the best players in the league, so he certainly wasn't "piggybacking".

Your argument is weak. Not to mention MJ didn't even make a finals until he was 27. The Cavs have had the best record in the NBA for 2 straight seasons and Mrs. Wade was only 25. He's had a better career than MJ to date, but he decided to give it all away to wear green tights. More power to him, I guess....

Please let me know which of those players ditched their hometowns on national tv after saying they wouldn't leave until winning a championship. I'll be waiting for your response.

BN27 wasn't sticking up for Lebron James. Just pointing out the obvious....the fact that most people in this thread said LBJ quit game 5 because he wanted to move to Miami. If that was the case, why would he quit on Miami? He has a 6 year deal right?

...and I thought it was obvious to anyone who has watched LBJ play over the past 7 seasons (other than those whose only exposure to the NBA is, you know, trolling in an NBA thread) that he never had that killer desire/heart of a champion. Whether he quit on the Cavs against Boston is a separate point entirely. The two are not mutually exclusive--he can lack that killer drive/instinct and be a quitter.

He showed it in very brief glimpses (Game 5 Detroit in '07 most prominently) but far too often passed it off or just didn't get it done. Maybe it's best (for him) to go somewhere where he isn't expected to be "the man". He's now clearly number two on Wade's team. It's a damn shame because he is as physically gifted as any player in the history of the nba...he just doesn't have the heart to be great. That much is clear now. He needs to get that "Chosen 1" tattoo removed because it's bullshit.

I am. It shows how pathetic this move is by LeBronze.

His "biological clock" is ticking... at age 25.

I've been watching the NBA for 20+ years so you don't have to assume what my "exposure to the NBA is". Whether or not he plays in Cleveland or Miami, he is the same 6-8 250 pound 2 time MVP beast that he has been the last 7 years.

I know it makes Cavs fans happy say that he is going to go to Miami to be Wade's bitch and put up Scottie Pippen numbers, but I just don't see that happening His scoring may drop a little. His assists definitely won't go down. His rebounds could possible go down with an athletic powerforward in the mix but will most likely stay the same. Hell, his scoring may even go up since a team can't send everything but the kitchen sink at him defensively.

Scottie Pippen in his prime:
Pts assist reb
20 6 5

LBJ Last Year:
Pts assist reb
29 8 7

My prediction for his stat line at the all star break:
Pts Reb Asst
26 11 7

Done. I was sorry to have left you out.

If Tron wasn't banned, I'm sure he'd be right here as well.

As much as you guys are viewing the Lebron hating as pathetic, your trolling attempts are just as, if not more, pathetic. But keep 'em coming. It makes the thread interesting to have you here as the Quitness' Advocate.
dude...not everything that isn't "OMG LEBRON JAMES MUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!" is somebody trolling this thread. the point was brought up that Lebron will just quit again when it matters most. I don't think that point holds much water, because the sentiment in this thread from Cavs fans who actually watched the game is that he quit because he knew he wasn't going to be in town much longer. Whether it was because he wanted to make it easier to leave (harder to leave Cleveland after you just won a title) or if it's because he just didn't have his heart in it anymore or whatever the reason was, the sentiment is that he quit on Cleveland and it was probably related to the fact he was leaving for Miami.

He's not going to be in that frame of mind any time soon. Was it wrong of me to suggest that he might not quit on his new team like he did on his last one?

I've always said the way he did it was stupid and immature. My point of bringing up the other players was that people are making it sound like Bron is the first player in history to leave a team and go to a better situation to try and win a championship. Which he isn't.

once again, he's an ass for how he handled the situation. But he's far from the only ass in the NBA. They can't all be Tim Duncan.

I also have a side question. Everybody was talking about the hush hush side deal the three of them made 3 years ago when they all decided to take extensions and sign contracts then get together in three years. Why didn't they just all go to the same team at that point and sign for less money? Just curious if that had been discussed and why they waited so long.

3 years ago there was no way to get all 3 even close to a max deal on the same squad. But all 3 played on the Olympic team in the summer of 07 (with Chris Paul) and Nick Arison (son of owner Micky Arison, and friend of D-Wade) was in their ears about making it happen. If there's any way possible to bring Chris Paul in, that will be looked at as well this upcoming off-season. All 4 wanted to join up, but Paul came in during a different draft class so his Free Agency couldn't be coincided with Wade, Mrs. Wade, and RuPaul. I have no idea how much of a pay-cut all 4 would have been looking at taking to play with eachother, but it's stupid. 4 of the best players in the world, in a game structured like basketball, is just stupid. I agree with the people who have made AAU comparisons...these guys have truned the NBA into AAU ball, and all they care about is playing with friends and putting together the best team, versus wanting to compete and win a title that actually means something. There's no validation in winning a title when it's paired with 2 other superstars....or 3.

If you watch as much NBA as you say you do, then clearly you know that "beast" is anything but when it comes to having the heart of a champion and/or a killer instinct a la Jordan and Kobe. He wants to be Hollywood and he wants to party more than he wants to win.

My prediction for his stat line at the all star break:

This won't even be close.

Statistically, I think he'll be slightly better than Scottie. He's already stated his scoring will come down by playing with 2 other superstars....so unless he plans on going egomaiac and forcing shots, I agree with him.

I'm thinking:

25-26 ppg
8 boards
7-8 assists

Good numbers, but he's forfeited any future MVP's with this move. I'd also love to see Bosh become such a role player, he doesn't get elected for the All-Star game. I wonder if nationally, people will neglect him on their ballots?

Being an NBA general manager must be like being a third string QB.... just holding the clipboard.

I don't give a shit about LeBron or the Miami Heat, the Cavs or the NBA at all... but I think it's a goddamned joke that players are consulted so openly about personnel moves (I'm sure it goes on in all the leagues, but it seems to me it's the NBA that actually fosters it most) and it's even more laughable that 3 players... players... have managed to create their own team... it reminds me of the daily "draft" when playing football on the play ground in grade school.... You already knew who was going to pick you... your friend... the question was where you were going to put the other kids who wanted to play.
