LB Storm Klein (Official Thread)

Re: According to a document from the Franklin County Municipal Court, Klein has agreed to 18 months' probation and adherence to a "behavioral contract" with Ohio State that includes many conditions.

Appears that he has some agreement with Ohio State, i.e. even if he isn't allowed back on the team, at least he can stay in school and work towards his degree.

My guess is reinstated, will never see the field again, scholarship will be reinstated for one year so he can graduate in May.

Re: Anyone know if he is on track to graduate in May? Just sayin': very few students graduate on time (i.e. 4 years and/or 12 quarters) anymore.

If he is told he will never see the field again at Ohio State I would guess that he might want to transfer. Just wondering, does this 18 month probation and "behavioral contract" with Ohio State prohibit him (i.e. by violating his probation) from transferring to another school.

When you cut through all the red tape, you can't kick someone out of school and off the team for a Disorderly Conduct charge alone.

Not out of school perhaps, but I'm pretty sure that UFM can kick him off the team and out of his scholarship for it.

That being said, for a pretty much zero tolerance guy, I'm ok with Klein sitting out a few games and then coming back.

Klein elected to accept a plea deal that could facilitate his return to football rather than waiting for the second trial, Templeton said.

?This was the only resolution that gave him an opportunity to graduate with teammates,? Templeton said.
I have no knowledge of the actual true facts and therefore am limited to one opinion:

One difficulty facing players is that time is not on their side and therefore a constitutionally granted right to jury of their peers is not actually available to them.

That's actually the case with most defendants coming through the Franklin County Municipal Court system: with so few available judges for an enormous backlog of cases, there is tremendous pressure on prosecutors to make plea deals just to keep up.

It still is, but there's no constitutional guarantee that it has to be conducive to their football schedule.

It appears this plea deal was reached because the prosecutor refused to exonerate Klein of all charges simply for political reasons.

The entire arrest, charges, and plea were bogus and the system screwed Klein over because he is a male and didn't have the luxury of waiting for the trial because of the season starting.

If the below is true, I tend to agree.
Classes for Ohio State in its new semester system started yesterday. James said Klein has a class schedule that?s supposed to start today or Friday. But it depends on whether the scholarship is reinstated, because James said that Klein cannot afford to attend Ohio State without a football scholarship.

With the available student loans, I somehow find this difficult to understand.

Now if he had said Klein would look at other alternatives, options etc. prior to continuing his education at Ohio State that I would understand.

What's so hard to understand about a d-bag lawyer trying to appeal to public opinion to cast Meyer in such a way that he's a jerk for not letting the poor kid continue on his scholarship?

(This isn't to say that Meyer should or shouldn't, but, maybe Klein's attorney should keep his yap shut)

Would he transfer? Would other teams be interested?
