LB Storm Klein (Official Thread)

It's such a tough situation for everyone to be in.

Brian Banks spent 5 years in prison for raping someone right? Only thing is she made the entire story up. Cost him 5 years of his life and possibly a career in the NFL which could have been millions of dollars.

Now, his lawyer was an asshole for having him cop a plea, but what the fuck is that girl still doing on the street? Her ass should be locked up for the same amount of time as Banks was.

The only two people that know exactly what happened that night are Klein and his girlfriend, but the deck is stacked against Klein.

true. He could have handled the situation better. However, it sure looks like he didn't break any laws and didn't even commit any violence against her. It seems pretty difficult to keep him off the team. Surely there have been other instances of players on the team handling situations in not the best manner, but they never had any charges brought up against them. I think this is a tough one for Urban.

Good points. One fact though remains. Guys that truly play it smart usually don't end up in this spot.

Ohio State football: Klein's motion to dismiss charges denied
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Thursday August 16, 2012

The trial of former Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault apparently will proceed as scheduled Monday in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Attorneys for Klein made a motion last week that the charges be dismissed based on an interview conducted by a private detective with the alleged victim in which the alleged victim recanted much of her story. That motion was denied today, according to records on the FCMC website.

Klein was dismissed from the OSU team by new coach Urban Meyer soon after the charges were brought in the incident which occurred at Klein's apartment on July 6. A senior-to-be who had started 10 games as a junior, Klein had exited spring drills second team behind sophomore Curtis Grant.

Meyer has said he might reconsider the decision to dismiss Klein should the facts in the situation change, but he did not promise it.

Storm Klein resolves domestic case

Former Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein has pleaded guilty a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and a domestic violence charge involving his girlfriend has been dismissed.

Klein was dismissed from the team on July 7, one day after he allegedly "violently amd purposefully" grabbed his girlfriend by the forearms and threw her into the front door of his apartment, according to a Columbus Ohio police report.

A trial in the case, originally set for Monday, had been postponed until Sept. 24. Larry James, an attorney for Klein, said an agreement was reached to allow for the possible return of Klein to the Buckeyes team.

"We have asked the coach (Urban Meyer) not to prejudge," James said. "We've asked that (Klein) be reinstated. He has said that if things materially change, he would reconsider.

According to information James presented to the court, the alleged victim in the case stated that Klein "didn't hit her, didn't intend to hurt her" and that "she wanted the charges dropped."

According to a document from the Franklin County Municipal Court, Klein has agreed to 18 months' probation and aherance to a "behavioral contract" with Ohio State that includes "many conditions." He also received credit for two days seved.

Again, this is from Schad, so that means Storm is probably getting the chair.

Can Schad even copy his stories correctly? He is stating he accepted both the dissorderly conduct and the domestic violence charge. All other reports are saying that he just accedpted the disorderly conduct charge.

I think the confusion is because there is no comma between the two independent clauses:

- Storm Klein has pleaded guilty a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge
- a domestic violence charge involving his girlfriend has been dismissed

It will be interesting to see what Urban decides on this...

:osu:

Just my 2 cents but I'm sure this was already thought out and talked about. I'd guess that Storm was told his dismissal/reinstatement hinged on how truthful he was regarding the circumstances and how the actual charges "played out" in court.

The million dollar question: Will a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge cost him more than, what would amount to, training camp and playing time?

I'll trust Urban on this one 100% of the time.
