I'm not familiar with the legal system, but can the victim lady re-press charges later?

Criminal charges are not up to her.
All true, but if the alleged vic refuses to testify, there's no longer any basis for conviction, and the police have little option to dropping the charges.

I hope that Storm truly did nothing to the young woman, and that she's not just following the typical behavior of abused women in recounting their testimony in hopes of winning back their men. If Urban is persuaded, ultimately, that's what matters.

considering he had a witness that supported his version of the story and that she violated her own court order and went to his home on her own, I'd say it's a lot more reasonable to assume she did this to deliberately hurt his chances of playing football.

Which would explain why she recanted after he was kicked off the team. :so:

The charges were not "dropped." He plead guilty to a lesser included charge, and cannot be charged again for the original charged offense, as double jeopardy would apply.

Cut your losses and move on. Sorry but violence against women is deplorable.

Guilty until proven innocent, nice.

I agree 100% violence against women is unacceptable but I've seen first hand way too many times when a woman initiates assault on a man, and while defending himself she has very minor cuts/bruises (likely from her own wailing of the arms) and says he did it to her. I don't look at male on female assault charges the same way I did before working in an ER for 5+ years. A lot of them are absolutely bogus.

My family has been victim of bogus assault charges as well and it is a pain.

But I would venture to say that in the majority of cases where the woman recants it is because she is either frightened of or sympathetic to (i.e. "I loves him") the assaulter.

I have no idea what happened with Klein, but it would not surprise me that regardless of how much she was or was not banged around, she subsequently saw the implications of filing charges for which there was no upside for anyone. Recanting in such a case has almost no downside unless there is a threat of further violence.

In any case, we don't know the details and that is where the devil lies.

Right....but her actions were arguably worse than what she originally claimed he did. She deliberately lied to hurt him and thus weakened further cases against legitimate abusers.

You're saying he's guilty.

Wow....some country we live in.

Actually, the stats suggest that more men are unjustly accused than are unjustly let off the hook by frightened, truly abused women.......unless younget your stats from Oprah or some other politically correct party.

Women know the law is to arrest men 99% of the time regardless of facts and make him prove it's not true.

Sad

We'll never know how many frightened, truly abused women there actually are. Partially because there are actual liars and partially because we have assholes doubting their stories and motives every time a domestic or sexual abuse case comes up.

Is violence against men copacetic?

If they are Michigan men..then yes.

As far as Storm goes...Welcome back. I thought Meyer was 100% right when he dismissed him..I also believe that Urban didn't take reinstating him lightly. I think UFM takes this teams image, and the perception of this team in the media seriously. If he believes Storm is worthy of being on this team, I'll have to agree with him.
