Ross had a huge game today. I'd say he had at least 15 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble. Great effort.

Ohio State linebacker Ross Homan

Ross Homan buries Badgers quarterback Scott Tolzien during this second-quarter sack Saturday.
The concussion suffered by Florida quarterback Tim Tebow two weeks ago was a national story. Ross Homan's concussion didn't create that kind of discussion. But the Buckeyes do need him.
Homan missed the final three quarters against Illinois, but led the team in tackles against Indiana last week with six, and led the Buckeyes again on Saturday with a career-high 15, including two sacks.
"It's a tough game, man," Homan said. "You're throwing your body around like a rag doll sometimes, and you really don't think about how hurt you can get sometimes."
Typically, players do rest a week after a concussion, but Homan said he passed all the necessary tests before the game against the Hoosiers last week and was able to come back quickly, as he hoped. His well-being has to come first. But he's healthy, Homan showed against the Badgers what he's capable of.
Ross Homan is becoming a force. For most of this season, talk about the linebackers has centered around middle likebacker Brian Rolle, but Saturday it was Ross Homan who made his presence felt. The only returner from last year’s starting corps, Homan had a career-high 15 tackles to go with a sack and a forced fumble. He is now third on the team with 42 tackles. He also has two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He plays in the base and the nickel and gives the Buckeyes a physical presence on the defense to go with Rolle’s speed.

Congrats to Homan, but it seems like B10 DPOW could go to anyone on our D after their performance.

But I'm hoping he can control himself the next time the defense scores a TD. Having a 15-yard penalty for losing control in the vicinity of an opposing player can be costly in terms of field position.
So next time try not to get the hiccups, Ross. Because apparently that's a penalty.

Quiet Homan sound at linebacker for Buckeyes

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Ross Homan has emerged as a field-roaming bell-ringer at linebacker for Ohio State in the past several weeks. Just don't expect to hear him say much about it.
Homan doesn't say much about anything, said safety Kurt Coleman, who snickered when asked for the most inspirational thing he's heard come out of Homan's mouth in four years.
"I'm sure that if the opportunity presented itself and he felt he needed to say something, he would," Coleman said. "But I think he allows the seniors and the captains to take that kind of role.
"He's a guy who will lead by example, and he does it in everything that he does."
Homan did it again last week, accumulating a career-high 15 tackles in a 31-13 win over previously unbeaten Wisconsin. He earned the Big Ten defensive player of the week award, which he explained by saying, "I was just out there doing my job, making the plays that came to me."
More and more this season, though, the lone returning starter at linebacker for the Buckeyes is seeking out plays to make.
"Ross is a monster," defensive lineman Cameron Heyward said of the quiet junior from Coldwater. "He's going out there with an intensity where he wants to make plays."
