Fear the Vest
I was really surprised to see how low he would go in the draft.

Someone was trying to sell a sappy story angle to Marcus Freeman, but he wasn't buying.
The Ohio State junior linebacker has had a breakout season. He and his girlfriend, Aynsley Collier, celebrated the birth of a baby girl, Bria, last winter.
It was suggested that somehow parenthood helped spur Freeman to fulfill his potential as a player.
Freeman shook his head.
"No, I don't want to say that," he said.
He attributes his success to good, old-fashioned hard work and film study. None of this "growing up on and off the field" stuff for him.
"I think I just started to get more confident," he said. "Just being out on the field, getting more and more plays, you get more confidence. And as confidence comes, I think you build your play a little more.
"Being able to go out there and know what you're doing, you're going to be able to play with more intensity and do better things, and I think that's a big key."
He arrived at OSU in the fall of 2004 as a Parade All-American from Huber Heights Wayne High School and played immediately, mostly on special teams.
A knee injury in the 2005 opener forced him to redshirt, but he had a good spring and began the 2006 season with high expectations.
"Marcus has got as much ability as anybody we've got in the linebacker room," co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell said then.

NEW ORLEANS -- Ohio State junior linebacker Marcus Freeman said today he plans to return for his senior season, and that's even if he already has a degree in hand.
Freeman was one of 13 OSU juniors or third-year players who petitioned the NFL for a forecast on where they might be picked in the April draft if they decided to leave early. Though Freeman said the information he received was favorable, he said a chance to play college football one more season while also getting a start in graduate school (he gained a degree in December in sports management) appealed more to him.
"It's definitely a thing you want to slow down and just enjoy every minute that you have," Freeman said. In other words, "I plan on being back here next year."

NEW ORLEANS ? Ohio State's Marcus Freeman wants to play in the pros someday, but he decided after listening to former teammates in the NFL that he's not in a rush to get there.
The second-team All-Big Ten linebacker was one of 13 juniors and third-year sophomores with the Buckeyes to ask the NFL for an estimate about their draft prospects. And although Freeman said he received a favorable report, he intends to come back for his senior year.
"It's definitely tempting when you think about the money," he said, "but when you talk to guys in the NFL, talk to guys who are older, they say, 'Man, I wish I was back in college.'
"When you're growing up, you always say you wish you were older. But you talk to older people, and they say they wish they could do it over again. You definitely want to slow (the process) down as much as you can."

NEW ORLEANS -- Despite the fact he already has a college degree and opened eyes with outstanding play down the stretch, Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman said yesterday that he plans to return for his senior season.
He was one of 13 OSU juniors or third-year players who petitioned the NFL for a general forecast of where they might go in the draft. Freeman said the report for him was favorable, but a chance to play college football one more season while also getting a start in graduate school appealed more to him.
"It's definitely a thing you want to slow down and just enjoy every minute that you have," said Freeman, who received a degree in sports management in December. "I plan on being back here next year."
