LB Marcus Freeman (HC Notre Dame, Constant Backtracker)

Yahoo sports is worthless

Anyone look at this link at Yahoo?

Linebacker class in session when No. 1 Ohio St. visits No. 24 Penn St. - NCAA Football - Yahoo! Sports

I laughed at this line "For Ohio State (8-0, 4-0), Marcus Freeman and Larry Grant have been pretty good starting outside for a defense that has allowed just four touchdowns all year. Freeman, a senior, is second on the squad with 6 1/2 tackles for a loss."

Last time I checked, the only senior on the defensive starters is Larry Grant. It just proves that Yahoo is worthless.

Freeman gets award
Linebacker Marcus Freeman was named the team's defensive player of the week after a 14-tackle effort. But he modestly pointed out that his job was made easier because Penn State's offense was sending multiple blockers toward middle linebacker James Laurinaitis.
And Freeman can understand that strategy.
"When you have somebody of his caliber, you have to," Freeman said. "That's something you see on film that teams are doing. He's a great football player, and a lot of times he beats blocks one-on-one. I tell him, 'Hey, thanks for taking the double team. I'll make the play for you.' "

Freeman like a new man lately for OSU

[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]COLUMBUS ? If Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman were a stock, the analysts might have issued a ?sell? rating six weeks ago.
At best, they might have said to hold on to him and see what happened.
But the junior from Huber Heights Wayne High School has emerged as Ohio State?s most productive linebacker, at least statistically, in the last five games. After a 14-tackle performance in a 37-17 win over Penn State last week, he has been the leading tackler among the linebackers in three of the last five games.
In that five-game span, he has 45 tackles, compared to 35 for All-American linebacker James Laurinaitis.
Through the first three games of the season, though, Freeman and Coldwater?s Ross Homan were splitting time at one linebacker spot and Homan appeared to be making a move to get even more time on the field.

Not to take anything away from Freeman, but I thought PSU went out of their way to put a helmet in Laurinaitis' chest on every play - opening up some opps for other folks.

That said, Freeman is hitting as hard as anyone I have seen in awhile and I don't think PSU would have taken that approach if they thought he would step up as big as he did.

That's what I love about our D......just because you take one person "out of the game" doesn't mean you take our D out of the game. I love how the players aren't afraid to step it up and lead the team.

Family is No. 1 for tight-knit Freemans

Columbus -- Sitting in the stands at Ohio Stadium, Chong Freeman's eyes never leave her son.
What else would she watch? Since leaving her native South Korea 29 years ago, her world has consisted of her hus band Michael and her sons, Mike and Mar cus.
"She goes to church and prays for us, she comes home and makes sure we can eat, and she goes to work," said Marcus, Ohio State's starting weak side linebacker, "and that's all she really does."

Whether or not Marcus declares for the next NFL draft, of which he is worthy, hopefully everyone can respect his decision either way and understand that not everything is centered around our beloved Buckeyes. That's all.
